I have a flip key with blade cut, 3 button type but it doesnt seem to want to link with the car the casing says 50W 1J0 959 753 DJ, but its a brand new casing and unsure if it may be the internal board that is a different part number.

Any help appreciated, Thanks

hey guys and girls im in a bit of a dilemma, i've had the key cut and swapped the transponder over to the new key. It unlocks and locks the doors manually and starts the car, no issues. Only issue is that i can't code it to the car so it remotely unlocks, i've browsed through and tried loads of different combinations. Any one have any other ideas? The part number for the remote is '1J0 959 753 DA / 9259-10', all help is appreciated i have a 1.2s MK4 and have seen people have had problems coding them but no information on how its solved. Many thanks.

Hi :)

I have exactly the same remote as you and followed this guide to code it (which I did in 15 seconds):

YouTube Link

Don't rush into what I've quoted below as the method in the above Youtube link should work.

*Thanks to PhilHarris68 for his input earlier in the thread.

Remote Control Programming (1997 ON)

Procedure
1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.

2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second
key.

3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn
will sound once.

4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding
procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

NOTE : When performing programming on additional remotes the procedure
is the same, except you press the unlock button 2, 3 or 4 times for the
different remote.

For example : If programming 2 remotes press the unlock button twice with
a 1 second interval between each press, repeat for 3 and 4 remotes.

- remove remote key from door lock
- press "lock" at the NEW key, indicator lights will flash
- then hold the "unlock" for ~3 sec. and indicators will flash long and the doors should unlock
- coding procedure should be successfully finished.

Good luck Matey :)

The above quotes are from post 1409 in this 'small' thread :)

Thanks Red Panda, i'll give it another crack in the morning, i tried the bit you quoted already so ill give the Youtube bit a crack, i must be missing something. In the YT link he pressed unlock then pressed it again almost instantly, and his convenience unit chirped.

I take it thats where my horn should beep? correct. Hopefully it'll work!

Follow the procedure in the 1st Youtube link exactly including going the same speed as the guy coding the new remote and you should be fine. If it doesn't work I'd wait 15 mins or so and would temporarily take the battery out of the remote before trying again(can't confirm you'd need to wait but think I read something in this thread about waiting before trying again as something resets itself). Really though it should work as it did for me straight away and I have the same remote as you. Follow the procedure exactly!
You'll know you're on track when the horn chirps :) Good Luck :)

Whats the part number mate?

As for the coding my horn didn't sound, which is a good thing 'cause it sounds so girly!:cartman:

But what i did was old key in ignition ON, not car started
Lock door with new key
Press Unlock then wait half a second and do it again
( This is where the horn should have beeped)
Unlocked car at the door
Took old key out of ignition
Tried my flip key and it worked

Hope it helps bud, these keys should be a compulsory mod!
Haven't stopped 'Flipping' mine

I've tried it loads of times now mate, thanks for the help though :)

My standard key that came with the car is:

433 MHZ / 5FA 007 680

The flip key (which i cant connect to the car) is:

433 MHZ / HLO 1JO 959 753 A

..but then it has another code saying:

5FA 8137-00

Just for Info, there were a lot of 1J0 959 753 DA covers floating around Ebay, the PCB may not tie up to the part number on the cover???? Something to check!!!!
