I love the F1As, only thing I'll stick on the Volvo ;) lol. They don't come in the right size for the 16s on ginge :(

Are you getting them fitted at the guy just up from Pentland Components? Cracking service from him if so!

Its good to hear you went for the f1 asyms after I suggested them. Love the ride of my car. I am still
Waiting to get a replacement after my pot hole disaster recently.

Got started on refurbing my brembos at the weekend. What a nightmare removing the
Old laquer o it didn't show through the new stuff without removing the logos. Think
It will be a full repaint over the summer. :)

Got my car up on the ramps today and tackled the other 2 stripped thread bolt holes. This one is the front bolt hole for the dogbone mount. The helicoil kit was £20 from ebay.

First up was to remove the dogbone mount. Then, using the drill bit supplied in the kit, drill out the old knackered threads. This it very easy and only required light pressure on the drill.

Then you rethread the hole using the tap supplied in the kit.

Hole tapped. I used a can of air to blast out the metal fragments in the hole to clean it out.

This is the helicoil on the insertion tool ready to thread in. Beside it is the tang removal tool.

Gently thread the helicoil into the tapped hole, you should only feel light resistance, if it feels difficult, back it out and run the tap in and out again to ensure all debris has been removed. Thread it down so it's about half a turn below the surface. Using the tang removal tool to knock the end tang off, only a light tap with a hammer is required. If you don't remove the tang the bolt won't go it very far!

Try the bolt in it to make sure it goes in ok. I got a new set of bolts from David at Sere.

If you're happy - job done! Refit the dogbone mount and torque it up, 40Nm for the front 2 larger bolts and 20Nm for the rear 2. Mount is solid again.

Poor show by Star Performance who must have stripped these threads years ago and never bothered to fix them or tell me about it.

Oh and this is what I found in my nearside rear tyre:

Spare wheel on until it's fixed.

Rob, i stripped the same thread on my clutch housing. This felt great but on closer inspection after a day at crail i'd cracked the side of the thread repair. I'd keep an eye on this. Also keep your eyes peeled for a new box as the new OEM clutch housing is £350 and no one will sell a housing second hand as it retains the gear box oil.
You can pick up boxes for about £350 ish. A 4WD 02M box won't be any use to you.
Let me know if you need any other info on this.
I know someone else who's looking for a box and his clutch housing might be spare.

The THS mounts are very good, definately stiffer than INA/034 street density and not as stiff or harsh as the track density mounts, they sit inbetween them. There is NO increase in vibration or noise, the best way to describe the THS mounts are tight and sporty. Gearchanges feel smooth, everything feels nice and tight without being harsh at all. Even with the Superpro void fill bushes in there is no vibration. Overall I give the THS mounts 9 out of 10 - great for all but the harshest of driving styles.
Not sure how that is possible considering the THS mounts are the same as ours but Ok ....everyone has there own impressions.

Having had brand new INA and THS mounts sitting side-by-side on the bench I can 100% say they are not the same, the THS mounts have larger rubber filling the casting better and they are stiffer than the street density, moving the mounts around by hand on the bench I was easily able to feel this. The front bush on the dogbone is stiffer on the THS than both the street and track density INA mounts too.

I've got the same problem, I over tightened the bolt... And need to fix this.
Thinking about it with stiffer engine mounts you can probably avoid cracking your gearbox.

And when I say stiffer mounts I mean Vibratechnics fast road mounts which according to me are superior to THS mounts and factory. I really don't rate INA street density mounts that's how bad they are.

quite close to the shoulder, but i would fix it, if they say otherwise walk away :)

Took it to my tyre guy today and he is going to fix it, says he is going to do a vulcanised repair, whatever that is. But he said yes, he can fix it no problem.

I've had to send the Goodyear tyres back as I need the money for other things right now so getting a full refund from Mytyres.
