Awaiting a phonecall back M1 say they don't have anu money left for compensation going through the MD so we what can be done!! Not looking too good so far. As it stands we will be £170 out of pocket by taking the car and getting an RNS510 retro fitted!!

As a part the Sat Nav is 2K + VAT!!! Cannot find an RNS310 for sale anywhere!!

Shall keep you posted.

Hi Mate , i feel for you and have read the posts .

I dont want to sound thick or rude but you sound like you a are slowly being dragged down by the company supplying the car.
Stick by your guns of your original order , get the car you want , retro fitting the media system is easy for them to do , at the end of the day you placed an order for a car , they took your money based on your order.

I agree about getting compensation , but put the ball back in their court for them supplying the car you ordered.

I would be telling them about the hotel you booked and if you have to cancel that you will also pass that cost onto them.
I would also mention that they get a lot of good press from this forum and probably have had a lot of business from good feedback from this forum and would they really like to jepordise future orders?
Give them a dealine to come back to you with when your car will be available to collect as you ordered it.

M1 have a agreed to let me have the chikd seat for free so that saves £181 plus the £428 for not having the Satnav. Oemretrofits.co.uk can fit the Seat RNS510 (VW has an SD card but has VW spalsh screen and front panle needs cutting out slightly) for £600 at my home address on April 3rd.

Not ideal but we do get a better Sat Nav unit for the same price.

I have been down all of the above and sadly we either take what they can offer or we take a full refund not good but nothing more they will do. The MD is very black or white giving us the child Seat for free is all they can and will do. SEAT uk have nothin in place to retrofit the satnav so the usual "we cannot do it" comes into play. If I can get the RNS510 Seat headunit retrofitted may work out better off than the RNS310 being a better unti and internal hardrive.

M1 were doing so well and the service had been fab so far so a real let down and may well be my last SEAT as I hav more faith in BMW as deliveries an orders have always been spot on. Never felt fully confident in the ordering system!!

The Sat Nav as a spare is 2K it is very sda and tarnished SEAT ownership before it has begun. If I had not owned a SEAT before I would of walked no doubt and gone and got an A3 or another 1 Series!!

mmm..Not sure I would want anyone cutting my dashboard out on a new 20K car. A quick call to Trading Standards would not do any harm at least then you know your rights, and if they have to supply the car as ordered I would be wanting more than a baby seat. Don't let them get off with giving you something that probably cost them £50.

That said it must be a difficult decision to make, I hope it does not happen to me in 10 weeks...Good luck:)

If I go that route I will have the OEM Seat version that does not require the dash to be cut.
Been down the trading standards route as they are offering me a full refund they are fuffilling their part. They will not budge an further I either take the car or walkaway the Seat is proably about £120 taking off profit margin and VAT. I will have an RNS510 or standar SEAT stereo to sell later on. We cannot wit 12 weeks as have no car and for any brand new car we will have to wait. Audi now do a Sat Nav for the A3 at £650 CD based so probably a version of the RNS310!!

TBH I surprised they aren't being more accommodating. Fair enough they're offering a refund, but that then leaves them with a customised vehicle which surely won't be that easy to shift. Not to mention the bad publicity on this forum.

I guess they're sure that you won't walk away.

Sorry to here about the trouble you are having. Nothing worse than waiting months only for things to go wrong.

I would think that Seat dont do Retrofit with the RNS310 because of the GPS antenna and the rear window also contains a second FM aerial for the traffic system.

Good luck.

Hi jezyg sorry to hear the problems you are having

As you orderd the Media System and the convenience pack together should you not be getting parking sensors front and Bi-xenon lights as part of the deal if so I assume these are also missing from the vehicle?

We just orded convinence back as opposed to Tech back, car has bluetooth and antenna is an easy retrofit. Not sure why Seat cannot do it as loads of independants can to all VAG cars.

The bloke I spoke to knew everything inside and out in the end the Sat Nav is just a reciver if the interfaces are there it just picks them up all Leons have the traffic antenna now I believe. Front and rear have a different interface module to rear only. The newer FL Leon has greater functionality via the newer modules and the bluetooth will also work fully with the RNS510. Learnt an awful lot from him.

Final update!!

We have decide to take delivery of the car and are having OEMretrofit fir the OEM Seat RNS510 sat nav unit just after we pick the car up tomorrow. M1 are in effect paying for the Sat Nav to be fitted. A result at least.

The problem lies with SEAT and thy change over to the new system as we are not the only customer to fall foul I changed to the media system after a week and that is were the problem started. The MD of M1 Autos has been on to SEAT about it but SEAT wont take responsibility for it. They say now that you can only change an order within 3 days of going on the system. BMW yo can alter thye oder two weeks prior to build and get a full printout of the spec that the factory has recived. So it can be done by others!!

At least it is sorted an do end up with a better system than standard and with full functionality as the newer the Leon the better the RNS510 will work.

a lot comes down to the dealer, with ford you can change the spec up until the chassis number is created, i think its something like 5 days but it does depend on how flexible the dealer is. Still you got there in the end and hopefully the weekend will be an enjoyable one. Don't forget the piccys and a write up of the sat nav :)

I agree totally but the new ordering system seems a backward step TBH and how SEAT can not admit responsibility for their system being rubbish I will never know!!

Glad to hav it sorted and the RNS510 is far better than the RNS310 bigger screen, harddrive and more detailed maps I believe.

I will deffo get pics up and a write up once I get back from London on Sunday. looking forward to collecting it again now and if the retro fit Sat Nav works out better it may of been a blessing in disguise!!

My thoughts on this subject are unprintable.........

I have issues with both M1 autos (Charlie) and SEAT UK themselves.

I have written letters to both Charlie at M1 and also to the MD at SEAT UK and had them delivered by recorded delivery. I still to this date have not received a letter back from M1 or SEAT.

Both M1 and SEAT UK are only interested in taking your money.......the fact that something is wrong just doesn't even register.

In my case having different vin numbers on the service book and the stickers through-out the car is obviously acceptable in SEAT UK eyes..........I am about to write another letter requesting a meeting as they do not appear to be able to write letters.

If I was you I would cancel and run as far away from this deal as possible.

I have to say i feel for you mate but totally sypmathise , especially after all the problems i have had with them as well.

i have a letter from SEAT uk regarding my cars missfires and i qoute
"it is our opinion that both the counted missfires (15 in 5 mins) and popping through the exhaust under certain conditions are normal attributes to this type of vehicle , and is classed as manufacturing normality.
therefeore it is not deemed a fault with this vehicle"

funny though my car pops all the time , every gear change , ou have heard it Steve so you know what i am talking about.

i will be giving SEAT 1 last chance to repair the car otherwise i have no other option than to go legal.

best to go and sit in the showroom on a saturday when people are about and then vent your frustration, we had something similar when the puma we put a deposit on turned out to be an import after specifically saying we didn't want one, that was from a ford dealer but fortuantly another ford dealer helped us out and in the end they got our business, the cheapest price isn't always the best.

I did mate and as I said at the time......mine doesn't do that. Now if yours is normal does that mean mine isn't?????? Either way SEAT need to either fix mine or yours. ;)

Steve TDCI.

I am trying to be nice about it all, but SEAT are just not interested.

Both the Wife and me will at some point in the future change our cars for new cars...........SEAT obviously don't want our money when the time comes.
