Had a phone call from the Sales manager from M1 autos to say that on PDI thr car has come with a convenience pack and bluetooth but no Seat Media system [:@]

We can order a new car but it won't be vat protected and will have to pay the price increase so £600 more in effect.

We can cancel the order and get all our all out money back but sadly I sold the Cadillac last week so are borrowing my mum and dads car but they need that back next Sat!!

If we don't take it my wife says no to a Seat and we will go back to BMW as she has lost faith in Seat. M1 auto's say no retrofit option?????

Can we buy and fit an OEM system seperatley I know it has been done the car has bluetooth fitted already. I have seen various brandnew RNS510 on ebay for about £600are these plug and play?

Advice and help must appreciated!!

Thanks in adavnce to an annoyed prospective Seat owner!!

surely its their fault its not fitted if you specified that when you ordered the car. i think you should complain directly to seat and tell them what you ordered.

The RNS510 will fit afaik, no issues with pre facelift cars and it's a better unit that the RNS310 anyway!

However, I don't understand how they can charge you more for an error they've made if you want the car you actually ordered...

Reading between the lines I think it is a dealership balls up and was told Seat would not honour the same price on a new car and the sales manager had a word with the MD and said not much we can do. If I except the car I will however ask for some form of compensation maybe get the Seat Sport Child seat thrown in free (£181) then with the £428 back from the media system we have £600 to put towards an RNS510????

We are still annoyed though and agree with all the comments but have been told we either take the car or get our money back or wait 12 weeks for another car and pay the extra £600 [:@]

I will try Sere motors to see if I can buy the Seat Media system as a part?????

If the dealership value your custom, they ought to volunteer to pay for the part if you can get hold of it, or perhaps pay the fitting of it too.

Just a thought...

While I hate the word because it is too easily thrown about the place, compensation is in order. A sharply worded letter to the manager, CC to the head of the Group and to SEAT uk. I would be after:

1. Sourcing the unit at their expense
2. Unit fitted at their expense
3. First service free

It is quite simply, not on.

Edit: just re-read your post. It doesn't matter what SEAT say or don't say about the price of the car. The dealership made the mistake and your agreement is with them. They need to sort it out. Is it me or have M1 Autos gone to the dogs of late?

Totally agree I changed the order after a week and that is were the problem seems to stem from and the system changeover.

mate i sell cars for a living and if you ordered it with the media system and it is on the signed order form at the agreed price then don't give in by law they will have to supply the car you ordered to the exact spec written on the the order form at the signed price!!!

Honestly they will have to order you a new car and at the original price no extra cost to you and then you should ask for compensation for having to wait for a new car to arrive and putting you at extra delay and having to source a car to use for the extra time.

Some dealers do my brain in with things like this when its there **** up! [:@][:@][:@]

EDIT::

I would phone another dealer and tell them what spec you want and the agreed figure you have got with current and say if you match it on a new car order then they have got your business!

Might also be worth ringing around some dealers (in different groups) and see what they have coming through. Stock cars seem to be making an appearance again in this country (hey if I can walk into my local dealership and receive a TTS within a fortnight, things must be looking up!)

Maybe ask for the new one to be ordered and for them to provide a courtesy car in the meantime? Might make them pull their finger out getting the new one back asap. It's their problem, you've got rid of your car to pick up the new one, which is perfectly reasonable. As for the £600 extra for a new order, make sure they take the hit on it. That's what I'd gun for anyway, bet you're livid...

WTF! You have to ring them back with a decision by 11 am tomorrow? Who the hell do they think they are, dictating to you when they've made the mistake. Tell them you'll take as long as you like over the matter.

I don't think you'll get the media system as a part - hence why your dealer can't just put in in for you - it'll be a ludicrous price if it is available at all.

Your best bet, if going for the car, is to negotiate a large discount for your trouble and sort out an RNS510 yourself. There are a few places that will supply & install a Seat one for £600-£700.

lol they will not budge on letting me order a new car at the same price I have to pay the extra £600 to be fair I did get a 2K discount in the first place but they cocked up!!

What is worse is we have a train and hotel acomodation pre booked for this weekend as we live in Derby and were going to London to pick it up on sat!!

I have just text the sales manager asking why it cannot be retrofitted as both this forum and otherplaces seem it is a simple pull out and put the new one in. We already have the larger display and bluetooth fitted!!

It is just shocking and takes the whole edge off of picking up a new car!! Grrrrrrrr and other ****!!!!!!

Thanks for that any names or links you can recomend?

I have found OEMretrofits.co,uk who will fit a Seat RNS510 for £600 so if I get the Recaro Childs Seat Sport childs seat thrown in (£181) will get a better system for the same money funnily they are in London on the day we pick our car up (6th March).

Glad I'm not the only eighties kid here.

Right, I see a plan forming here. Take the car as it is and ask for enough cashback to get the unit fitted by one of the aforementioned specialists. Then push for as much as you can for your inconvenience. Free service is no good because you are too far away. Soooo....

Free mats, tank full of fuel and whatever else you can think of on top of the required cash to get the retrofit.

Free maintenance plan? I've heard of people getting it chucked in for cheap when something like this has happened.

When i went to m1 autos to collect my car 4 weeks ago they had a seat media system sat on the parts shelf at the back of the showroom. What could stop them retrofitting that if it is still there??
