with al the mods youve been doing damien, can you explain how its allowed the timing add ons, got fmic to do wednesday... what did oyu add for the seat sport and ive got a huge jetex filter on the way for some more g/s.

does adding the timing agree with your p-torque map?

what timing advance you on just now?

The Seat Sport FMIC is standard on the mk4 Cupra, James, so not even touched it.

My car was stage 2 mapped with the standard exhaust on (still made 225-229bhp though :)) so Will prob reduced the timing compaired to a normal stage 2 map. Once I fitted the Miltek system I then had a logging session and there was room for improvement so added 1.5' of timing. That lot freed up 8-12bhp (last RR was 237bhp).

Since then I added a better filter and done some logging and there is now better airflow so allowed for more advance to be added.

So I'm now running 2.25' of advance timing on top of my stage 2 map and I'm pulling 190-192g/s consistently.

Adding timing is not map specific mate so it works fine with my map and any other map.

Once the weather warms up I might have to reduce the timing though (TBC with logging). At the mo I'm seeing sub 20'C inlet temps while logging (also recently added a NewSouth power intake gasket too).

recommend this over bills? thought bills was a better option, thicker?

did the newsouth require longer manny bolts?

have you a rough guide on fitment, like to be prepared??

Cant comment on Bills gasket as I've not even seen one.

All you need is a 5mm & 8mm allen ket and a 10mm socket & extension and a 10mm spanner. No longer bolts required. If you have a look at it you can see how easy it looks, and it is actualy that easy. Undo all the allen bolts, then undo the two 10mm nuts, and one bolt under the front of the mani that secures it to a bracket. Lift mani off the 2 studs, swop gaskets and bolt back up. The bolt under the mani doesn't go back in though and everyone just leaves it out, nothing to worry about.

Serviced my 007p the other day and the car didn't feel quite right and the DV sounded different and vac was a little low too. So I stripped it again today and found that I had nipped one of the internal seals, therefore the piston was not sitting correctly. Lucky I kept the old seals so put one back it. Now running spot on again :D

Also fitted a new coolant temp sensor the other day as I was getting a CTS code every few days which I thought was causing some cf's on my last set of logs.

So with the new CTS fitted and DV sorted I thought I'd do a few quick logs :)

I'm going to leave it @ 2.25' and add some octane booster in for the track day on Sat :D

Also got a MBC on order so will be trying that out very soon too ;)

You're not scared of detonation running it that close to the ignition's auto-retard limit?
While I haven't logged mine after I had it mapped for 99 octane Vpower, and I suspect it's running close to your ignition timings, although I'm running a bit more boost.

I wouldn't feel safe if my engine was running way into the CF's, especially now where the weather is really cold, it'll be a lot hotter during the summer.

While I haven't logged mine after I had it mapped for 99 octane Vpower, and I suspect it's running close to your ignition timings, although I'm running a bit more boost.

I wouldn't feel safe if my engine was running way into the CF's, especially now where the weather is really cold, it'll be a lot hotter during the summer.

My cf's are at a very safe limit. Come the warmer weather I'll re-log and adjust timing accordingly :)

It feels great at the mo too :D

It would be good to see what airflow your flowing with that filter :)

AEM DryFlow, I think the yanks measure that thing in feet, not inches :lol:
Prolly meant for a performance truck of some sort, fits the Ibiza perfect though!

Small update: According to Andy at Rosstech the 1.8T can handle up to 12 degrees of retarding on the ignition, so you should indeed be perfectly safe ^^
He recommends to aim for a rough 3 around the board. Too much and the engine will start retarding heavily, as in a 12 degree retard, which is prolly around 20-25BHP lost the second it starts knocking.
As far as I can figure out the ME7 ECU our cars run will advance ignition carefully by 0.75 degrees every second until it sees knocking again, then fall back another 12 degrees, and so on. This will usually be seen as a choppy dyno run when reaching max boost.

The tolerance that will trigger that 12 degree retard would appear to be customizable by whoever wrote the software for the ECU, as in, the pro tuners who know a lot more about this than us :p
Dunno if they actually fiddle with the tolerance for knocking, I wouldn't.
