Guys i know Forge IC are abit on the steep side but there worth every penny IMHO.
Got mine about 3years ago and its done the job and more, nice hot summers day and it still pulls like a train.
Plus you dont have to mess about ordering bits n bobs from different places and forgeting things.

guys, please stick to a custom fmic thread, i know all about forge ics benefits etc, but custom hasd been proven to work on ko3s setup so info on this only please. even on a gb from forge the price is unlikly to be sub 500quid, and twin pass only ofr lc.

have a chat with Rob Don and ask about cooling temps and ambient temps etc comparing Ebay to Foge coolers .....it is night and day difference ..

yes, but James has already stated he is not going anything larger than a k03s, so a cheaper alternative, in this case a cooler of ebay will suit his requirements fine, so long as he ensures he has 63mm pipework all the way round so it does not get choked and temps rise

Robs is pushing over 300bhp, which is far beyond the capabilities of the ebay setups (you get what you pay for in this case) so is not a comparable case in the instance of this thread - different power setups

what im really after guys is a guide on what pipework is needed to relocate onto single pass cooler, i.e the pipework from the passenger side to the turbo and connections needed for dv etc etc....#

pipework from the inlet manny to fmic looks simple enough, just the other side.

think ive decided on this one, from what kinetics has recommended...

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FMIC-SEAT-LEO...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item51900fb0c1

he says it comes with everything needed, including a map sensor pipe aswell.

looks like the ends of the pipes are ridges aswell and mikalor style clamps, shouldnt be an issue keeping the pipes on.

looks a small cooler, but front mount and larger surface area than smic, shouldnt lose to much pressure through it with a good source of cold air hitting it.

James i know that its probably a quite easy job but could you do a guide step by step ? If that wont be a problem of course. Taking the bumper off and so on :p

Thanks :) Im getting this one soon as well. Cant wait.

hmmmh, maybe not so easy, got it in my head how its going to go....

looked over the pipework in the car just now, the oem turbo to intercooler pipe looks a biatch to get to to remove, easy enough to top of turbo, the silicone joiner is easy to get to, but the brackets on the metal charge pipe are tight.

smic easy enough to remove, just a case of routing pipework, incorporating the map sensot to the inlet mannt, then from the turbo down the other side to the hot side inlet on the fmic.... simples really!!!!

im guessing looking at the pipes will tell me where each one goes, kinetics says strait fit so should be easy to look and fit

ill set it up in living room first to figure it all out

A FMIC is going to be my next mod and was also thinking about getting one of these ebay kits aswell. Would be good to know what sort of work was involed in fitting it and the performace increase that you noticed :D

well after pm kinetics ive pretty much learned how to fit, seems simple enough, he says no modding of any pipework is neededm map sensor pipe is there, pipe with dv and n75 inlets is included also....

seems awesome value for this it.

definatly the way im going.

.

Did Rob post any logs of of the Ebay core compared to the Forge. When he fitted the Ebay core, he said it worked perfectly fine. No offence to Rob, but he changes parts on his car like changes his socks. Running 1.8 bar on a small turbo like he has got is probably pushing it out of efficiency to start with. This is what Rob said about the Ebay intercooler:-

"I have made a direct comparison of an Ebay intercooler vs the Forge big race intercooler. After running the big Forge for a few days, doing some hard test runs, etc. I swapped it over for a large bar and plate intercooler I got off ebay for £90. To my surprise there was no difference at all, no loss of performance, no increase in lag due to extra pressure drop, nothing - car performs just the same, boosts the same, feels the same!!! I ragged my car for a good while today and no performance drop at all, I think the WMI helps but a £90 IC vs a £700 IC I have to say the £90 IC performs awesome! (both were tested with WMI activated)"

This is next for me aswell so looking forward to the results of this ebay kit as quite reasonable (not exactly the most complex of components is it and amazes me how some people can justify the huge prices!).

Been doing a fair bit or research on this over the last few days and quite a few of the golf boys going down the same route and have seen very very close results to the forge and pro alloy setups (def aint 3 times the kit for three times the price), but they have probs with clearance of the bumper unless they have a r32 front bumper fitted. Be good to find out how this one goes on.

For the boys that are fitting what bumper is it being fitted behind lads (just for future reference)?

fitted behind facelift cupra bumper on mine, had to trim and lose all the foglight housing, but grills will go back on just.

having a little trouble getting bumper back on at the minute, took me 5 hours to fit the cooler kit, thats from removing bumper, old setup and refitting... just struggling with the bumper at the minute.
