Are you running the Unos MBC yet Rob, looking at your previous logs your missing out on a lot of mid range torque that you can now use with confidence with your uprated rods. You want to be peaking to the limit of the map sensor.

Got it fitted yes, just not set up yet. Got an oil change to do then will be out back on the road this week. Yes the Apexi was not giving me consistent boost so torque was suffering, should be able to increase the torque with the Unos (Wallace said this when I was up there on the dyno, should be around 300lbft), I have 'clamped' the MAP sensor and am planning on running 1.8 BAR of boost. CR Turbos confirmed the rebuilt turbo can handle this (uprated bearings are good for 2 BAR).

It's not crazy logic Bill, quite sensible and normal really, things like baffled sumps, water injection, etc. are not essential, plus most people sell off parts in order to upgrade. My question is - is it worth it? :headhurt:

you are impatient - thats obvious from following your posts over the months..

to sell the parts you thought you wanted at one point and to now consider them not worth keeping to fund just a bigger turbo setup to me seem daft.

save your pennies, keep it as is, and then get the BT when you have saved enough, keeping your other parts on ther car, as combined with the BT you will have a superb setup.

dont rush your decision. you have so far reliable power... on the edge of tractable

good call i think rob

for info, ed's going to send me over a manifold, so in a few weeks or more it will be clearer how the ffe style may fit rhd models

OK, oil and filter is now changed, couldn't see any metallic particles in the oil so that's good. I also fitted the Forge intercooler.

misc2.jpg

Definate improvement in intake temps after a hard run, it recovers alot faster than the ebay cooler and temps return to cold again, so a worthwhile investment. Outside temp was 3 degrees C, intake temps were around 6-9 degrees C, dropping to only 3 or 4 when the WMI kicks in!

Forge Unos boost controller is now set to 1.8 BAR of boost. It is SO much better than the Apexi, holds boost great, so simple and effective - wish I'd done it years ago! :D

Thats fantastic, great to hear you are enjoying the mods. Its interesting isn't it, the whole intercooler debate and how Forge are expensive blah blah!!

Simple but a good piece of kit isn't it Rob! I too could never get to grips with the Greddy and for my needs the unos suited me very well and is far superior to the N75

I reckon ebay coolers are probably ok up to about 250bhp, beyond that something higher quality is needed, especially if you're cranking up the boost. Mine was ok at around 1 BAR of boost but beyond about 1.3 BAR - no way, heatsoak!

The Unos does the job, simple to fit and use, no hassle!

Looking good matey ;) btw, have forge reduced the size of the crash bar, because you can usually see half of the crash bar showing just at the top of the middle grill if you get me, but from the picture, you cant see no crash bar. Anyway looks good :)

Oh and I am also trying out one of these, Pipercross Venom:

http://www.thepipercrossshop.co.uk/venom.asp

Pipercross rate it to 450bhp and it is only very lightly oiled. So far so good, does not feel restrictive at all, car pulls the same as with an open cone, doesn't sound as good but with the 3" cold air duct being fed directly from the fog light hole, it's being force-fed nothing but cold air.

No, today was the first time the car has been out since the middle of December, all I was doing was setting up the Unos and trying out the new intercooler.

I will do logs soon though, if it's less than 219g/s then the open cone will go back on! But given it's being force-fed air it may well be higher. We'll see. :D

The Unos is stupid simple but hey does the business and doesn't feel so spikey during part throttle which most mbc's feel like..
I ran an enclosed dynatwist with an 80mm feed and believe it or not it still needed more air than what the 80mm ducting force fed could provide. I'm looking to mod my Jetex by enclosing it and supplying it with two force fed 60mm feeds and seeing how that logs. Looking forward to your future Logs. You have to log the unos to see what youre getting but there is no reason why you can't peak at 1.6 bar and hold 1.4 bar to the red line which you'll definately feel and could improve your bhp output no end. Your setup is good for 340bhp no problem imho.
