TBH Ant, I never had a
problem. I dont think my old
Ibiza was that sooty tbh, although I have got a few pictures from my final trackday at goodwood, where there is a sizeable cloud following me out of the pits
Also, on the track, your generally up near 4000RPM, so the soot generation should be minimal (unless your running rich/have a mahoosive turbo). Ive never found myself off boost waiting for it to kick in whilest on the track (which is when 99% of the soot it generated), if that makes sense?
I think you'd be very very very unlucky to have it pointed out to you. Not sure if you were there in 2005 (I think), we all did a trackday at Snetterton, and there was a V12 jag there burning oil for fun... blue smoke pouring out of the back, and although we complained, he was left to carry on till the afternoon when half a tonne of Jag engine deposited itself down the straight.
I dont think T.Spark (or whatever he's called now
) had/has any problems and his car (when on boost) it looks like theres an oil fire in his boot (or the guy with the Fabia VRS).
When I've tired of the Elise, i'll be buying another Cupra TDi, and turning into my track+commuting car.
