The FQ450 was the highest tune version of the Evo 9. Water injetion was a pain and frequent servicing meant it wasn't suitable for normal road use.
The fast cars aren't actually sold by Mitsubishi, they are imported direct by their approved performace arm, Ralliart. You can spec your car direct with them to whatever your preference may be, right up to 600 / 650bhp depending on the particular block. Get it delivered to your local dealer and you're off!
I've owned Evo's for the last 10 years (a VI, VIII MR and now a X RS) and spent many hours on the MLR and never heard of this I think you're getting confused with the FQ versions which are modified by Mitsubishi UK (used to be the Colt Car Company) from the jap spec cars which arrive in the UK. Currently Mitsubishi UK offer the X in FQ 300, 330 and 360 spec plus the limited edition FQ 400. Years ago the UK importers were called Ralliart, now called Extreme UK, and they built a limited edition RS 450 version of the VI. They were fine for road use....I see one at local MLR meets in Yorkshire.
Regarding the OP as others have said having loads of horsepower is pointless if you're unable to put the power down. Evo's are quick because the 4WD system allows you to utilise the available power in most weather conditions.
If you want a quick R32, dont bother with a Supercharger - you need a turbo. Actually you need 2 turbos

that video cracks me up every time.
i've recently gone for a stage 10 remap and my fr tdi is now kicking out 1200bhp
okay flame me or whatever it's called, to me these arguements are a bit like what OS is better, are PCs better than macs etc, i.e. they go on, and on, and on with very little agreement.
as someone else said surely driving is about more than what bhp your car has, no? or maybe i'm just getting old . in reality, how much of a 200+bhp engine can be exploited day to day in the real world? even in my standard fr tdi it's not often possible to get the most out of it.
okay, moaning over
Golfs too boring looking, too common. Id rather BT the k1 or do haldex conversion.
I have been thinking about this thread all day.
^^^^^
My advice is get a diff, engine mounts and a decat. I did and bl**dy heck it made a marvellous difference.
