gearbox oil

anybody got a guide to where to fill and drain and how much to put in. also is it worthwhile putting some sort of antishock gearbox oil. thanks

You will need the correct socket which is a spline one, there is one on the side of the box to fill up which is near the starter and the drain is on the very bottom.

Draper do these quite cheep as i bought one when i had to resort to mole grips on a bora once :(

Just fully synthetic 75/90's will do mate.

Fuchs TITAN SINTOPOID SAE 75W-90 synthetic gear oil is good stuff, as is the motul, and the silkolene depends how much you want to spend. When i done the seals in my box il be filling it with the titan sintopoid.

Only reason I say to check is my 02M uses a hex instead of the torx one ;)

Could be the later boxed cars use a torx, mine is a 51 plater.

Ages since i filled one but arroun 2 litres, yeh usual procedure of filling till it runs out, allow it to level for a second then put the plug back in.

I think mine took 2.4 as i remember i bought what i was sure was enough but then had to drive to two stealers for some more. Make sure its dead level when you fill dont attempt to jack it up just on the front. On my cupra r it was a security spline as pictured above but my 5 speed mk4 gti was a hex.
