Well guys - today has been a great day! :D I've finally found out what was causing my knocking noise after about 6 months of annoying knocking noises over rough ground.

Drivers side FK droplink was 5hagged. :ban:

So - replaced it.

Normal droplinks are approx 270mm long. FK shorter droplinks are approx 240mm long. So - the hunt for a similar length droplink that wasn't aftermarket began.

And it appears that the Ford Puma droplinks are 238mm long approx. So, it's fitted and all is quiet! No more knocking noise!!! And hopefully with it being a genuine part and not an aftermarket part, it should last a fair bit longer too! :D

Erm, I'm not sure what the part numbers are but I'm pretty sure it was about £12 for one. Which you cant really complain at!

Found out Puma ones are that length as I know people in the motor trade, after all, for one more week, I still work in it so know quite a lot of garages around town. Just go in and get a bit of research done. It's like ETKA but for all cars. :D

I guessed they fitted cos looked very similar on the computer. Both went in the same direction etc, ball joints pointed the same way so thought - dont know til you try!

DPM do V-Maxx shorter droplinks, Ash. Its what I'm using :)

I noticed shorter ones on ebay but figured OEM would be better quality maybe...

Nice one! Did you fit one on the other side too just in case that goes soon?

Not yet! No point til it breaks really....

You should change the opposite droplink as soon as possible. Different length of then causes the sway bar to sit out of way and keeps it under steady tension instead of being neutral when not cornering....

Serviced my car yesterday, just an oil change and filter. Found out I've done 10,000 miles since April!

Used Milllers XFE-PD Semi synthetic and my god it seems to go better with a clean bit of oil! And not as smokey???

We'll see. :D

Even though they're the same length?

even a couple of mm would cause what Alex is reffering too.

 thinking about it.....if one side is shorter than the other, wouldn't there be less roll when cornering one way and more roll cornering the other

wots done 2 ur ibiza. and is she safe at that bhp.

if you asking me about my car mate, PM me, this is Ash's car thread ;)

top car chap

Thanks very much. :)

Ok, i thought it would be one with 270 and one with 238mm..., sorry, my mistake....

Regards Alex

No problems. Obviously I'd change them with 30mm difference between them.

To be honest, the 240mm measurement of the FK droplink was only a rough measurement. If I wanted to be really picky it probably was 2mm shorter. I cant notice a difference in handling so.....

If you want to reply to the lad asking about your car, you can! I dont think he has enough posts to PM you. I'll let you off.....this time. ;)

Well guys. Sad news! Some tw@ has hit my car in a public car park.

Got the week off to celebrate my 21st birthday (tomorrow) and went out yesterday for a nice day out with the Mrs, was literally parked in the car park for 2 hours (bought a 2 hour ticket), came back and someone has hit my front, passenger side bumper. It's gone through the paint and primer, luckily it's not dented it BUT it still looks horrible and white scratches dont look too great on a black car.

As soon as I saw it (always check the car before leaving a car park) I went to the parking signs board, phoned the number on it. Of course, "parking is at the owners risk." So what the hell do you pay for when parking in a car park if it isn't security? Phoned and they said there's nothing they can do. No CCTV anywhere in the car park. So now I've got to get the bumper done!

Luckily, I've got one more week in the Body/Crash repair centre before I'm made redundant. So I suppose it could've been worse!

I'll upload pictures soon. It's about a 3inch square just above the fog light. :(
I'm hoping this'll be the only thing that happens to the car!!!

More than likely! I do go round all the remaining cars in the car park, just to make sure no one had a black scuff. Otherwise they'd have had no windows either.

Sorry to hear that mate. I absolutely hate it when people do this... so dishonest and wrong!

Yer I know. It sucks! :(

mate i feel for you, you luck is a bit like mine my friend:(

Tell me about it! one thing after another!

Luckily it's not dented or dug the plastic, so will literally just need sanding, priming and painting. Gonna blend the bumper, not paint the whole lot. It's not bad - just a right pain in the arse and means I've got to get it done when it was someone else that did it! :(

Me being me, polished out the bits inbetween the bits where the paint is missing. I used G3 and it's come up quite well, and just touched the white bits in with Black Magic for the time being, just so it doesnt look so obvious.
