Hello!

It depends on how serious a hybrid you want. There are basically 4 hybrid options.

The first 2 are with a Garrett GT1749VA turbo off a PD130.

When hybrid, a stage one GT1749VA can produce 200-220bhp according to Turbo Dynamics.

A stage 2 hybrid GT1749VA can produce 220-240bhp.

Then you have the PD150 turbo - the GT1749VB (the bigger turbo).

Stage one will see you with 220-240bhp and a stage 2 will see you with 240-260bhp.

Like i say - these figures are what Turbo Dynamics claim.

I went for a PD150 (GT1749VB) Stage 2 hybrid, it's rude to do any other really.

My power figures were 240bhp and 380ft/lb.

Happy days!

very cheeky indeed, only kidding ya mate

though mine is the 130 hybrid as i couldnt be bothered hasseling around for a 150 turbo and mine made 244 bhp and 351 ib/ft on a hub dyno:p

when getting mapped, i requested that the torque level produced is smooth and is about 50 ib/ft less than the clutch is manufactured to prolong its life with a new clutch, so the torque slowly drops as it goes up the revs, as well as making high horsepower near the top end

Same as mine - in a way. Mine is high torque very early. Then it tails off, but then the horsepower cuts in. So one replaces the other. :D

hi thanks for your help, do you know how much roughly it costs for a gt1749va to be hybrid'd (is that a word!) to both stage 1 , and two, the 1749vb's are hard to come by! and what do they actually do when they hybrid it? thanks again, this place is awesome for finding things out.

Erm, to get a turbo hybrid to either a stage 1 or a stage 2 I'm pretty sure is around £600+VAT. That's how much it was when I had mine done, and that was at Turbo Dynamics. You can get them hybrid at several places. Turbo Technics is another place I believe.

When hybridding, they basically take out the internals and change them for higher quality, better internals. Change impellors, modify the housings, do something with the VANES, change compressor wheels....I could give you all the details but I cant find them atm! :(

To answer your question:

The latest version from GT1749VB is 721021-5006S as Garrett part nr and 038253016G as VAG part nr.

Oh, and by the way, power not only comes out of turbo....the hybrid is limited in turbine size in every case with the original gt17vb turbine flow is limited by about 210bhp, with gt18 about 230bhp.

when does yours knock??

My car does at the moment when hard acceleration and then heavy braking. Everything else has been upgraded and swapped (coilovers - front ARB - all front bushes)

and how much???:headhurt:

Are these the same as standard top mounts & bushes? Wasn't aware there were cupra versions!
They look the same...

I fitted mine at the same time as coilovers, no knocking here! :)

Mine knocks over rough ground or uneven ground. Bumpy roads basically. So I figure it's something to do with struts or related?

Yours sounds like driveshaft/CV boot/brake region. Unless you've got an engine mount gone.

ive had the driveshafts/cv boot/brake region all checked. no luck. as for engine mounts they all look gud and the car is only 18 months old and no hybrid unlike yours.
