Changing Default Idling Speed LCR

Is there a general default idling speed? and is there a way in Vagcom to set this manually?

The reason I ask is, my cars idling speed ~750rpm its vibrating the car quiet alot since i have put in a uprated dog bone mount ~ upon changing the revs to 1000rpm (with the pedal) its smooth and no vibration is present. So i am wondering if i can make it idle at 1000rpm all the time. Some adaptation method in vagcom?

Idle Speed Adaptation (may not work with APH engines, see your Repair Manual):

With engine warmed up, at idle:

[01 engine]
[Adaptation - 10]
Enter channel 01 (Channel 02 for TDI engines)
Enter an adaptation value between 124 and 132
[Save]

The actual idle values and range of adjustment will depend on the specific characteristics of the engine and ECU.

Im gonna try this tonight and see if i have any joy.

As far as im aware Idle speed isnt adjustable on modern cars, its detrimied by certain sensor values, the dogbone mounts do cause vibration on idle, same as stiffer engine mounts too, its the price to pay for stiffer mounts

I have the original mount with an uprated bush from powerflex. They had to use hellicoil in the end because my bolts where sh*gged (snapped off). It certainly delivers to the road well and are happy. Its just at that default rpm it resonates up the steering wheel ~ clearly an extra 100 rpm makes it go away and would b nice just to set it abit higher.

pretty sure i read that bill (badger5) raised the idle for someone on a map but not sure if it was on a leon or not maybe other ECU's you can do it.

You must be able to do it in vag-com, but I did mine with Lemmiwinks, should work even without Revo.

1000 might be too high, though, but you'll find a sweetspot.

All the stiffened mounts will do it, depending on the car and how tight the mount is etc.

Its still adjustable but is ECU controlled nowadays, as others have pointed out Vagcom may have the capabilities and I would imagine it may be possible to change with a custom map.

I know that we can change it on BMW's but it has to be authorised by the technical office first and its only by 50 RPM either way.

vagcom can change it - mine is around 850rpm with no vibration at idle :) can't remember how I did it, but it is possible; search the ross-tech forum.

Do the INA or THS ones have this same problem? Hopefully someone can advise.
I can 100% confirm that there is no extra vibrations with INA track density transmission mount, track density DBM and street density engine mount.

Thanks Willie & Boom, I was beginning to get put off getting a DBM if I had to mess with the idling. Willie, do you need to change all of the mounts to stop the vibrations or is it ok still with just the INA DBM? Are you using any extra bushes Boom?

Sounds good to me. So you'd recommend changing the whole mount rather than just the bush?

There's probably no difference in the effect. However it's easier to change the whole thing rather than just the bushes, otherwise you need a press. But on the flip side it's more expensive to buy the whole thing. Personal preference really.

I got given the bushes for free from a mate and it was in for a service and thats when they noticed the bolts where f***ed so i had them swap it (old one was dead). Had i known before hand i would of prolly got a hole new mount, but u cant complain with freebies and does the job nicely, if anything its abit overkill, car felt totally different ~ way more feedback from the steering wheel.

Anyone done the steering column aswell?

To confirm you can change the idle speed.

You use engine 01 adapatation.

Select 01 and the default value is 128. On my car this meant a default rpm of 760.

You can change it up to 133 which equates to 810 RPM. This may depend on default idle speed (if its running rough anyway or lower than 760 ~ you might not reach 810).
