i currently have 3 car keys (2 can start the engine, 1 won't) 3 car keys, 2 of them will start the car also open anything apart from the door locks, (unless using the remote) the 3rd key it will only open the door, but will not open anything else e.g. fuel tank caps or start the engine, so JUST the door lock. I think the previous owners has changed the lock

Im think to get a new lock to make my life easier if the car or remote battery die!!, another remote key can also allow my dad to drive the car too

is one of the keys that starts the engine a non remote key?? if it is open it and take out the transponder and pop it into your flip key, then just follow the several instructions on here to program the key to your car (it seriously is a walk in the mark to do that)

timpsons will cut the key but they wont guarentee it'll work (mine did).

If you look a couple of pages back at my walk thru it really is that easy to do, just may take a couple of days :) (providing you have the right keys :p)

i got myself a key from ebay and got it cut went to get it coded and the dealers couldnt do it as they found out.
i think i might need a blank transponder for them to be able to code it.
i wont be happy untill i get it sorted as i only have one car key currently well two if you include the one which isnt coded.

been looking around on the web for you mate found these guys which might be able to help, if i remember rightly you only got 1 key?? well these guys say that they can program transponders and cover the whole of sussex, might be worth an email??

Just to check an make sure I'm clear on what I need

1) Flip key with blank blade - Flea Bay or website - ~20 quid. - VW/SEAT -to fit my Cordoba (nobody posts int he Cordoba forum)
2) Blank transponder - websites - ~2 quid

3) follow reprogramming instructions

4) have working key.

Is this correct? Or do I have to use my transponder from my original keys. I'm not really into pulling things apart unless I really have to.

Problems with recoding

Right, I got myself a blank top half of the flip key with a Seat logo, and a bottom half with HL0 1J0 959 753 DA.

Assembled the key (just put top and bottom half together), and then followed the recoding instructions.

Having done that, the key unlocks and locks the car both remotely and with the blade (cut at local locksmith).

However, if I try to start the car, it starts and immediately dies, flashes a key in a car logo on the dahs and then eventually sets the alarm off!

I then thought I might need the transponder from my main key (no spare key when I bought it :( ), but when I looked at the key half of the flip key, there's nowhere to put a transponder as in the picture a page or so back!?!?

How do I get this flip key working? Or do I need to find a key half with a gap for a transponder?

You need the transponder from the original key or you need the new transponder programmed to the new car

You do need the transponder from an original key otherwise the immobiliser will continue to cut in. If there is no gap on the top check the bottom part of the key however from everything thats been said on this thread the transponder goes into the top half.

If you havent got a space for it go onto eBay and look for eBay item 290337577436 as thats the same item that i purchased and has the space for the transponder.

That's funny, I just went online and that's the exact key blank that I bought, with no space to put the transponder!?!?

The part with the actual key blade is in 2 halfs. Take it apart (top and bottom come apart) and you'll see the slot for the trandsponder.

When you put it back together, put the key blade on the little knob, wind it round to coil the spring back up and snap the 2 bits back together
