correct me if im wrong but i believe it just unlocks the boot rather than opens the whole car, similar to the unlock button on the remote (click once to unlock the drivers door, twice whole car) the boot doesnt ping open just click that button and the boot unlocks leaving the rest of the car locked.

Meh im not missing much then

does the spare key start your car.........

if yes it has a chip! its a little black thing thats glued into the case

if no you need to get hold of a blank chip and go to SEAT to get it programed or order a new spare key through SEAT

on the 3 button fobs if the middle button does work then yes if u click it it will only unlock the boot and leaves the rest of the car locked and as soon as u close the tailgate it will lock it and re activate the alarm if u have one! :)

Dealer quoted me £210 for the key, cutting, programming etc

I just bought one of eBay for £24, i just need to get the blade cut, and program it (there loads of instructions on this thread for how to do this)

bit of a no brainer really

What do they mean @ ebay when they're talking about a
transponder chip need to reprogramme it The CHIP IS BRAND NEW and can be program to your car, not as second hand that can not be program again.

Programm @ your car or @ dealer? Or ... ?

Isn't it possible to make a sticky or something with all the info about flipkey's? Or @ start post?

Hi guys,

I thought i would try and clear this up for people who are thinking of trying to get a flip key. I've included the step by step instructions again (they are identical near enough to the ones gaz put up when he created this thread) I just want to thank all the people who have put posts up on here to help us noobs.

You will need to get your key if you have one starting 1JO 959 it will operate the boot release, if you choose a key with 1KO 959 it wont (if im wrong with that let me know) i tried both keys on my car and only the 1JO worked the boot.

The MHz doesnt make any difference as 434MHz is backward compatible.

To program the key you need to do the following:

1. Switch Ignition ON and leave the key in the ignition.

2. Mechanically lock the vehicle using the Drivers door using a second
key.

3. Using the remote control press the Unlock button once, and the horn
will sound once.

4. Wait 6 seconds and press the unlock button once to activate the coding
procedure. The remote control will now be programmed.

This is the procedure i followed to program it to my car.

To build the key you can do the following:

If you open the spare key you will need to look for the transponder. As Stu put in his post it is down the bottom in the little alcove.

SpareKey.jpg

Be careful when trying to remove it as i found mine to be glued in. To get mine out, i had to cut the side of the spare key up a little to get a scalple in to remove the glue.

This is what it looks like once its removed:

Transponder.jpg

Put the transponder into the little hole on the top half of the flip key and sercure it in otherwise it'll just rattle around. I personally put a dab of blue tack in. There is a slightly lighter end to the transponder, i dont know if its required to be, but i would advise that end to go in first (closest to the blade) only because thats the way it comes out of the spare key.

Close the key up and bingo your sorted, now you just need to get the blade cut.

My local Timpson's did the cutting for me and did it free of charge as they dont guarentee it'll work.

If they do screw it up you can buy top halves of the keys dirt cheap like this one off eBay (its the one i bought)

i hope this makes things clearer without the need of reading the whole thread again. (if any of the previous members want me to delete this let me know, i dont want to tred on peoples toes)

this is the exact same model number as mine,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SKODA-FABIA-O...trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1683|293:1|294:50

the only thing that would need recoding would be the transponder, i think you can get a blank unused one and then reprogram it (or so i have been told) once the transponders are used they cant be re-done by all accounts.

Where abouts do you live?? the person who sold me my key does do immobiliser re-coding but is located devon way.

no probs mate, i dare say theres plenty of people your way that can program your transponder for you, you should be able to program the remote part of the key to your car now if you get timpsons to cut you a blank blade so you can use that to lock the doors.

let us know what you find

i got myself a key from ebay and got it cut went to get it coded and the dealers couldnt do it as they found out.
i think i might need a blank transponder for them to be able to code it.
i wont be happy untill i get it sorted as i only have one car key currently well two if you include the one which isnt coded.

i currently have 3 car keys (2 can start the engine, 1 won't) 3 car keys, 2 of them will start the car also open anything apart from the door locks, (unless using the remote) the 3rd key it will only open the door, but will not open anything else e.g. fuel tank caps or start the engine, so JUST the door lock. I think the previous owners has changed the lock

Im think to get a new lock to make my life easier if the car or remote battery die!!, another remote key can also allow my dad to drive the car too
