Raising bonnet

There is already a thread on this but I can't find it....

I'm talking about raising the back of the bonnet up like the RS turbo boys do to let more heat out, a few people on here were going to try it and I'm wondering if any of you did?

I'm planning to have a go at the weekend so will take some pictures [planning on raising it about 1"]

Only thing I am a bit worried about is the bonnet gas strut might not work correctly as 1" lift on the hinge must make a difference on the strut?

i remember seeing this on a nissan 200. i wondered to the reason and now i know!

does it actually make a noticeable difference?

I don't know but I did it to my RS Turbo and it looked quite smart

When I do it I'll either love it and leave it or hate it and take it off............but either way I'll take some pics

More worried if I'll be able to use the gas strut than anything.

i raised my bonnet the other week and you can see the heat coming out.have also removed the sound deading and scuttle seal.dont think i can add pics as im a newbie

How far did you raise it mate and can you still use the gas strut?

I've cut my spacers 1" I've just gotta paint them and fit them at weekend.

There's a VW Polo Coupe I have seen with this done, it looks quite cool although he doesn't have an impressive angine to go with it, no judging by how long it take him to reach 40mph anyway.
