My brother has a Fabia VRs running 230bhp and has the smoking problem what he says works to reduce this problem is some silicon lube in the MAF connector says this clears it right up

is this really true??

fantastic figures mate! shame about the smoke though, but im sure downtuning it slightly will fix that, turkish's ran 247bhp from RsTuning and smoked quite abit too, but only above 3,000 rpm, is yours the same?

Couple of things you can do to clear the smoke.

1. Have water/meth injection fitted.
Think i'm going to do this. Just to decide wether to do it before or after the turbo.

2. Have the inlet manifold polished.
Was talking to the guy off here with the yellow hybrid Ibiza (mikey H?) at springfest.
His made no more smoke than a mapped 130, and was running nearer 260bhp.
Said it was real smokey until he had this done.

As for silicone grease on the MAF sensor, it will clean it up a little, but not to this extent. Done it on my car a few times, and made very little difference.

Mines only really smokey when planting it. I can use 9/10 of the throttle and it be fine, but when caning it gets a bit dirty ;)

Yeh I heard someone else say that about polishing the inlet mani too. He'd been talking to Mikey H too.

But that means being without the car again. :(

I am just waiting for the first who claims to have 280hp with stock injectors*g*

Polishing only the intake will not give any benefit, the flow capabilty of the cylinderhead is the limiting factor, already when going over 220hp, the flow around the valves reaches ultrasonic speed and instable flow conditions.

This is one more reason for calling numbers far over 220hp are nothing more than BS.....

Do you ever say anything that isnt negative? Have you said the same thing to every hybrid owner on every single VAG forum?

There are tuners who are consistently getting these results and you must be the only guy I know who doubts all of them.

You come and give some good troubleshooting tips but you ruin everything by your constant whining about figures.
