Forge and Pro Alloy will both do custom coolers and pipework for you.

Pro Alloy isnt to big for a k0x turbo. Who told you the Forge isnt designed for 280-300bhp?

To be honest you may well be asking for trouble going for a one off custom set up from RS Fab. Hoochs mani would be a prime example of this. Expensive but taken alot to get it to a stage where it should hopefully be reliable.

Yeah Forge can do it but only with crush bended ali and silicone hoses and the Pro Alloy silicone pipework is renowned for being too soft and ballooning.

I've read a few threads on here before from members saying the Forge wasn't optimally designed for that much power - I think that's more down to the pipework than the core. I would suspect the Pro Alloy may induce pressure loss on a k0x

In fairness, the IC pipework isn't going to be subjected to big changes in temperatures and the same level of power as Hooch's mani so reliability shouldn't be an issue. The way I see it, you can easily spend £700-800 on the Forge and Pro Alloy setups which both have imperfections, or spend the same on a custom built cooler designed for the power I intend to run, with optimal air flow and build quality.

surely there must be an exhaust fabricator on here want to earn a quick buck dont mr D do this?

Yeah I imagine there's plenty of places that can do it in stainless without much of an issue. The only disadvantages being extra weight and worse heat dissipation than ali (although probably not significantly measurable), but it is stronger and therefore more durable.

I dont think you would see pressure loss as an issue with a k0x and the Pro Alloy. Why not get the Pro Alloy core and get the pipes made up in ally.

I didn't think Pro Alloy sold the cores on their own?

My only concern with this (if the core isn't too big) is that I wish to run 2.5" pipework for optimum air flow and so even if I replicated the Pro Alloy cooler the end tanks would have to step down from 63mm to a core of 50mm which may inhibit a restriction in itself, whereas with a 65mm deep core that's shorter and deeper I sacrifice a loss in surface area but ensure that it's free flowing throughout (no step down from end tank into the core).

That's where my thoughts are at the moment anyway, but it's difficult to decide on the "perfect setup".

I think you are getting abit too hung up about the flow in the core and steping down tbh. I would be more concerned about the route of the pipe work and knowing what you get will work. You are only going to be running hybrid k0x so either Forge or Pro Alloy would be fine for that.

Pro Alloy will make a custom cooler so if you ask them to make you one Im sure they will. Just remember that Forge and Pro Alloy designed and made their coolers with the Ibiza cupra in mind and are experienced at what they do.

Agreed - just want to be sure that if I do go to the trouble of a custom cooler that I make the right design considerations and choices.

I think the pipework bends and route is one of the major performance factors with these and by going down the side of the engine like the Pro Alloy and AM setup then it ought to be pretty spot on. It's good just to bounce ideas off of people on here to get different opinions and perspectives on things.

robbie if you look at the original ic pipe work any thing is better than that! I have just been out in my car for 1st time with it fited and it pulls alot harder and seems to get to peak bit faster so im happy with it and when i go ko3 hybrid im sure it will be even better! There is few guys running this set up with ko turbos, granted the silicone not brill but just change it! but keep the routing of it! Hooch had custom pipe work made give him a shout see where he had it made it does say in a thread some where lol

My original A&M fmic cost me £700 was worth the money but they were a limited run hench the price but alot of thought went into them, to be honest the pro kit is just as good could be better but its personal choice end of the day and you get what you pay for

what i might do is make some pipe work up with silicone and off cuts of pipe to get shape then take it to a fabricator as i have a audi tt charge pipe to start with!!!

Yeah I don't doubt the Pro Alloy core is a great bit of kit but I think I may be able to enhance upon that for my specific setup with a carefully designed custom cooler - just need to discuss a few details with the actual fabricators I think :)

I love the look of the Pro Alloy cooler but would need bigger end tank connecters to run 2.5" pipework - does the standard Pro Alloy one run 57mm? I'll give them a call tomorrow and see what they make of it all.
