The Nomad pillar is great - looks just like old one

Its taken me some time lol - I still dont have the Oil temp wired up

I have sprayed the rings on mine so they match better, this wasnt easy at all as the chrome rings do not come off but glad I invested the time in it:

did you have to use special paints or the standard rattle can (+primer)?

i though abought painting them too or do the clocks in silver to match the gauges ?

my dual pod looks ok , but around the pod holders its not got the same texture as the pillar part itself not sure if the black ones are the same ??

Yeah the actual pod area doesnt have the orange peel skin effect - but the Nomads are the best available for the Leon by far

Just used black paint from Halfords (same colour as car) - no primer or laquer.

The pain in the ass was masking a circle - very difficult! Took a long time to get them perfect, spent hours with a cotton ear bud and a dab of turps taking the tiny specs of paint of the face of the dial so it was left with a black rim. They do match well now though so happy with it

lets you know when its "okay" to rag it - oil takes about 7-8mins longer than coolant to get up to temp; also highlights any overheating issues before yours coolant rises by which time it is normally too late.

i've had on since a week or so after i bought the car, very useful, especially for monitoring any difference in temps when towing due to the extra strain...

Pain in the ass it most definatly is! Im on my second gauge!

O well

What did you use to cover the face and how did you manage to get around that little didy knob at the bottom of it? Im having problems here and having it just sat in my garage is upsetting me!

You may have a solution to my problem......

After spraying mine (and ruining one gauge in the process lol) hooked it all up and im sure the oil temp gauge is screwed. Cant take it back as its black now so gonna have to buy another one.

The needle on it is sticky - have to tap it to move it and it wont go over 75 - Im pretty sure oil temp should hit 90??????

ThackersLCR - do you now have a spare AutoGauge oil temp I could buy if its messed up with spraying?

To spray it I found the best way was to get some sticky address labels. Measure the size of the circle with a compass - practice getting it as close as possible with normal paper first. 1mm too small is better than 1mm too big. Then ***** a little hole for the button to shoot through and spray that too.

Once sprayed there will be a little paint on the face - I used white spirit and cotton ear buds to remove any excess paint and in the end it came up trumps.

It did cost me 2 oil gauges to practice lol - and now it looks like im going to have to buy a 3rd one and spray it again! If I do I will write up a little tutorial with pics if ppl will find this helpful?

I have just resprayed mine black also. I too cut out some circles and masked them on. Very fiddly. I had to use a little touch up paint on the inside edges but it came out nice. Check out pics in my readers ride thread.

I sanded a little first, applied two coats of halfrauds grey primer, then a coat of halfrauds satin black spray paint. It matches perfectly with the nomad pod.

Sorry mate, it was a boost gauge i fooked up, only cos it was a fiver cheaper. Mine aint wired up yet, tuesday, weather dependant (fingers crossed).
Iv been playing with some silicon on it as it just peels off, tried maskin tape but it soaked some of the paint up from the inside so i was left with a nice grey gap [:@]
Im gonna open it up an see if i can swap the blue light for a red'un on the dial.
Il try the label option, cheers mate.

Hope all goes well mate

My oil temp gauge is only reading 75 - can anyone with an oil temp gauge confirm to me that it should infact reach 90?

Has anyone else had troubles with autogauge oil temp readings?

the pod seems to work on its side on the dash but not in the pillar (i think its a dodgy gauge)

should be around 75 degrees under normal driving conditions; if you thrash it you may see up to 115-120 degrees
