I did this at the weekend, however he plumbs the bloody gauge light into the variable resistor. so whacking my voltmeter in there means my volt reading changes with the dimness of the lights !!!!!

LMAO

and then the lights dont stay one solid colour!!!

and to top it all off i couldnt put the boost pipe in as i dont have a 12mm drill bit only hole cutter and i wont get the drill flat enough.

so now wondering where can i get a diesel boost gauge that has no VAC :)

Oops should have seen that lol

The oil temp send autogauge supplied with the gauge is M10 - I have now reaslised that spare plug by the oil filter is 1/8NPT fitting.

I am looking at 1/8NPT sender such as this:
http://www.twenga.co.uk/offer/5804/1059438454139188803.html

......but will it work? The autogauge sender I have has two wires coming from it, other senders I've been looking at seem to have none - will it still work?

I've seen 1/8NPT - M10 adapters but with one of these it will raise the sender too high to fit in by the oil filter

where have people run their boost pipe through to get in to the engine bay?

tried fitting mine through under the glovebox today where I ran my amp cable but it just wont fit through there

I had a really awful time trying to feed the tube from the engine bay to the dash.
It's annoying and the guide is not really that good as I drilled the hole in that gromet to find a heap of wires on the other side and no passage through and it's impossible to find the right bulkhead section from under the dash
You have to remove the bottom of the dash anyway
Best way is to go through the same grommet as the bonnet release cable.
I actually used a metal rod through it and pulled the tube from the dash side to the engine bay. May be easier this way if you have the right method and tools.

I am about to purchase the oil temp gauge (and boost) and it would be good to know what I will need and how to do it.

Let us know how it goes stokieshinobi.

Cheers chap :)

If you get the autogauge guages the extras I got were:

3 metres of this:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Silicone-Vacu...14&_trkparms=72:1301|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318

The tube they supply is crap its like bubble airline used on aquariums

I also just bought this as the standard temp sender doesnt fit in the plug next to the oil filter:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&item=310111249444

The one that comes with the gauge is M10 - we need 1/8 NPT (could buy an adapter and use the autogauge one instead)

The final thing you'll need is 12v wire to run from the pod to the temp sender - and maybe too some protective tubing to protect the wiring from the heat in the engine

Then your away ;)

Your ebay link is dead.

However...would this work? (M10 female to 1/8 npt male)

Then I wouldn't need the extra 12v wire? Excuse my lack of knowledge:p
Thanks

All in now - just need to find a 1/8NPT oil temp sender

I drilled through the plastic next to where the wiring goes in and it dropped straight through, then sealed it all up with silicon

Thanks for all the help ppl!

How would you rate the Nomad pillar? Yes, im another going for the Autogauge look!
I know its all down to personal prefrence, but what are the gerneral feelings toward an Oil temp and teh Oil Pressure? I cant weigh it up!
How long did it take you to fit both gauges and wire it all up?

The Nomad pillar is great - looks just like old one

Its taken me some time lol - I still dont have the Oil temp wired up

I have sprayed the rings on mine so they match better, this wasnt easy at all as the chrome rings do not come off but glad I invested the time in it:
