Ive had a response from my mail.

They could do a discount if 3 were purchased.

Also, the guy has mentioned buying a supersprint golf 16v one and modding it to fit as it might be a cheaper option ??????????

anyone tried this before ?

not sure if doing a cut 'n' shut on a manufactured manifold would be such a wise idea - you'd end up with some less than smooth internal pipework where sections had been welded in (which kinda defeats the object), or face what could be quite an expensive bill to grind the welds flat within the manifold as the sections that were added in would likely be in a fairly inaccessible location. Just had a (quick) look for a Supersprint stainless manifold and the prices were coming back at between £400 and £450, though they're doubtless available for cheaper if you search about a bit more. Add an hour of welding and you'd be starting to get close to the £500 you were quoted in the first place (which you may get a discount on for a group buy of 3 manifolds anyway), and it's not a particularly neat and tidy solution either.

But the Supersprint manifold is for LHD only

Sorry, should have been clearer - that was to take a mk2 Golf 16v one, which you could then weld some extensions into the vertical sections of the four pipes to extend the collector to make up for the height difference between an ABF and a KR, the ABF being a bit taller. I assumed that this was what the manifold builder was suggesting in the emailed reply that orangemuffin referred to in his previous post. Suffice to say, I don't think modifying a relatively expensive "off-the-shelf" item is a particularly sound approach if a scratch built manifold is going to come in at around £500 (less discount if a group buy can be set up). Might be worth having a go with a comparatively cheap mild steel manifold - an Ashley, say - to see how well it'd work, tho of course welding stainless steel is a slightly different kettle of monkeys...

Info is gold dust, thanks

Yeah, am thinking it will be better and less complicated to just have one made and if i can get some others interested take the discount. I'd be happy to pay £500.

i know its a minor thing as what i am after is a bit more power but what type of noises do you get out of yours dave ?

All depends on what tone you got on your SS system really I guess! It was a bit louder and more raspy, you do hear some noise from inside the car after you fit the manifold but thats on;y if you got the cd player off and listen! lol
