engine illuminated in amber

I just cant get enough amber lights showing on my instrument panel!

Not only has my screen wash light become illuminated (I assume thats what is is anyway) but I now have a little picture of an engine illuminated in amber. Perhaps they have appeared just becuase of the cold (I have a full screen wash bottle) but maybe others could shed light on this.

Anyway I need to use the car to drive from Lincoln to Hartlepool and back on Tuesday and cant get into the VW specialist until Wednesday so I will have to use the car as it is. I will let everyone know if it explodes or not so it can be a cautionary tale for other Leon owners. Nothing is flashing or squealing at the moment, just steady lights so maybe it will be OK. Fingers crossed!

Its a Cupra 180. I have got her booked in for a diagnosis now at Lincolns VW dealer. Should tell me whats happening. I thought the light had to be flashing anyway for something to be up.

I thought that if the light is flashing, it means its a serious problem that is hapenning there & then, but not 100 % sure

Engine management - breakdown cover benefit

Had a stroke of luck this morning. Got my car stuck in a field when I went to dog training. My breakdown company came to get me out and the guy noticed my engine warning light was on. He plugged the car into his laptop and explained the car was running a little "rich", probably because I had revved it to get it out of the mud (he didnt know its been on for days previous to that) and he cleared the problem. The light has not come back on and Im wondering whether it was just spurious in the first place. The car runs absolutely fine. Anyone had false alarms like that or was it genuinely a reliable indicator that some was (and still is) wrong?
