Theres like a clicking / crunching when I press the clutch slowly, it's fine is i press it quickly.

Its coming from the inside of the car but it's pitch black outside and I havent got a decent torch. Is there anything attached to the clutch pedal that could be making the noise?

or the cable is dry and straining

a good dose of duck oil or wd40 and see if it still does it ?

dread to say the dreaded pedal box syndrome is probably looming

Well guess what...you know when your having a crap day and then it starts to rain and the last thing you need is the pedal box going, guess what!! it went lol. Had to get the AA out to tow me home!

So tomorrow I guess I will be trying to fix it!

My pedal box just went about 3 hours ago, luckily where i reinforced it a bit i managed to drive it home on a clutch that had 2 cm of travel lol.

Then it will break again. Didn't you just fix it not that long ago??

I have to say mine is fine, maybe because it was bolted then re-welded again. Also it would be worth changing the clutch cable and the clutch. Helps loads.

Jesus.

That's the fourth type of failure I've seen! New pedal box time for you mate. Going to do it yourself or is it garage time?

Same spot mine went, if you can, weld the bracket that holds the cable to bulkhead as that will take a lot of the strain. They're bloody shitty though, most hated thing on a mk2 for me

£76 for pedal box, am going to do it myself. Pretty much got a whole day to get it done in so no rush. Can take my time. Just really annoying having to spend the money as i know someone isn't getting there christmas present this year. Oh well its either her christmas present or my car :p

So i just went out to see if i could make a start, managed to get the steering wheels off airbag out. seat out. Just to give me more room. I have managed to get the clutch off the shaft and the brake pedal but i can't get the brake pedal off the bloody brake cylinder ball thing. Any ideas? (i think the little lugs are broken) also do you need to take the bottom of your steering column off to take the pedal box out? Cheers.

I did disconnect the bottom of the steering column. I think I would've found the whole job is easier if I'd removed the whole column.

grrrrr steering column nuts at the bottom will not budge, the nut has began to warp, just off to halfords to buy some of that spray that should loosen it a bit hopefully.

those retaining clips on the pedals as well...OMG!! lol got it off eventually though and then got hit in the head by the clutch spring lol
