Is the brake pedal removed from the pivot shaft yes? Once it's off there, you don't need to do anything with it as it's possible to pass it through the back of the pedal box. It can stay attached to the master cylinder rod.
Is this a do-able job for a novice mechanic?
I am currently toying with the idea of picking up another valver which needs a pedal box.
Might be a case of selling the 1.4 and replacing it with another valver (which will be more fun
).

Been thinking along those lines for a while mate, just a matter of finding one that
a) the owner admits the pedal box is gone
b) not a million miles away
Yeah it's do-able for a novice (don't quote me on that), especially if you don't need the car everyday. You can just take your time with it instead of getting stressed out.

I've been told that the pedal box has gone, so that bits not the problem.
Again wouldn't be needed for a daily, so could just take my time.
Also know a few people who can weld, so may even be able to get it welded in situ and re-enforced without even needing to do it.

dunno fella.. as far as i know it is.. i did it on the old Mk2 ( my redshed which im led to believe is out there somewhere )
when I bought my Cupra, one of the receipts i had in with the history, was for a new pedalbox so all was good

Nooooooooooooo pedal box is on back order
oh and i found some service history for my car....it was repaired back in 2006 by a garage, didn't do a very good job obviously!!! (they welded it)

Dunno 2 years for a pedal box aint bad...... really. I'd seriously reinforce the new one as they are just the same as the old one
what is the pedal box actually made of? Plastic? flimsy cola can grade metal?
My clutch pedal is clicking and the pedal is not returning back up as quick as it would. Hoping it's just a cable change job. All fingers, toes, and body parts crossed.

Sorry to say it mate but it doesn't sound like just a cable job. Thats the exact same symptoms I got when mine was about to go.
