not so pretty anymore.

dropped it off today. they said it is due to vibation and the weight of the actuator as the slip joint takes away the strength. they are going to put a braket between the two flanges (t3 and wastegate) to give it strength.

like chingster says.. the oil drain looks burnt already
ptfe lined tube inside... may well give out on you.

I made my top lines solid where its hot to avoide this.

brace is an obvious answer on the wg. kinda a poor omition on RS's part to not consider this.
must be a right pain in the arse dismantling it all so soon.

i am remaking the oil line yes as i noticed what you guys also noticed.

any pics of your hard lines bill? what dia?

Hooch,after paying **** loads for a custom mani you would of hoped the job would of been done right in the 1st place:confused:are you billing them for your time and inconvenience?

Not great about the manifold either, but at least RS are sorting it out. I suppose you can look on a bright side, and that is that it didn't fail on the way up to TOTB.

thanks mark. but im not competeing in totb now as ive lost my confidence in the car. if there was one thing i thought was well made it had to be the manifold......and its the 1st thing to fail. so god knows what else is in store lol

i saw you the day after my old man was killed at inters. didnt say anything as i still didnt believe it myself. the funeral was yesterday and had over 200 people turn up, was also a really good service :D

Re your car look on the bright side if you can and get it done and be gentle with it.....keep the boost down it'll last alot longer there will be less heat issues.
It's an unknown quantity knowing what issue's are in front of you in the future.

I'm selling my APR Stage 3 Golf as I've decided to get back into my old valver for track use and fun on a budget. The MKIV has too much invested in it for hard track use and breakages.....I don't know how Bill copes but he's lucky to have the knowlwdge and facilities to DIY. I too have spent a fortune....it's nice to have a high performance package but it's still a worry
For me I will also be looking at a other options.
I would like an Edition 30 and a simple re map as it's easy living with huge performance.Even a mapped standard MK5 with a mere 240-250bhp is a sensible cost effective option.

if you are paying others to do the work then you will always be coughing up for work being done and mods...

track use takes its toll on mechanicals.. its simply does.

cost effective is relative.......... to what and for what..

road use or track use - compromised either way if using for both

got the mani back today :D

looks much stonger. fingers crossed.

i took a spare engine with me so i could remake the oil return pipe while i was there. as bill seggested, i did it in hard pipe untill below the mani. before and after pics

ive also been spending :D i bought some uprated cable ends with quick shift encorporated. should be good with b&m also

Do you not think it would be a good idea to get a flexi in the wastegate line, and another in the downpipe above where they meet.
Differential expansion of the two pipes will put stress on the joints, and will break the wastegate line at the weakest point, like it has previously.

i know what you mean but i suggested it, requested it and something else that rymes with requested and seggested it and it wasnt done.

they are saying it will be ok but like you i have doubt. im going to bill them for any further problems as i spent 7 hours today collected the bits. 6 hours last week removing the bits and its going to be most of the weekend fitting the bits back on.

they rekon the slip joint will supply enough monement. (even though its only on one axis)
