flip key info thread

i still haven't received my key yet but went to the local timpsons to see how much it would be to get the key cut and they said that it can only be cut at a local dealer because its encryptocoded or something?

What happens now?

I went to Timpsons and they said exactly the same thing. They seemed pretty adament it was a dealer only job. Took it to my local VW dealer they did it straight away no questions asked.

My local Timpsons said he's do it, but if he snaps the key it's not his problem and still £5 ... was worth taking the risk though.

I'd ask him to do it and tell him thats what I got told - he might do it then.

My key arrived today THANKGOD! just going to try and program it now. Hope it works as the key looks so sleek and makes me feel like i'm the owner of a brand new Leon Cupra or something just as good.

done it! works perfectly as well! im so chuffed. Thanx for everyones help and now i've got a fully working flipkey! blade still needs to get cut though...going to Timpsons tomorrow.

Is there any way to programme my flip key so that the boot popper button will work on my '06 Ibiza FR?

O.K. I bought a flip key from ebay, i've got the immobiliser chip swapped over, got it re-programmed to open the doors, thanks to all the info on here and got an FR badge to replace the vw one on it

Only problem is, it will not open the boot with the middle button, how do i get it to do this? Or is it a VAG.COM job?

Yeah, it has the wee rubbing strips on the bumpers, that means it is pre-facelift doesn't it?

my boot button works on my 07 plate facelifted ibiza? no idea why mine works lol as u can shut the boot and it will re-alarm it self if u just unlock the boot

i have a 2002 leon cupra my fob is 2 button but would a 3 button work and unlock my boot does any one know as the 2 button on 433 mhz is hard to find

I think you can use a 433mhz or 434mhz key.someone mentioned it near the beginning of this thread that you could use either as the real frequency is 433.92MHz.some call it 433 others 434 but all the same.

I have a 2002 mk4 ibiza and both numbers work as does the boot button,not sure if its the same with the leon but i would have thought so?

If you cant get a 2 button easily just buy a 3button as the other 2 buttons will still work fine even if the boot doesnt.

to be honest i never use the boot button anyway
