What do you actually need to declare anyway? My insurance said I don't need to declare anything, unless the total cost of all the mods are above £500.... and that's only if i buy them from a shop and not second hand etc.

if that's what they've said, then fair enough. dont always have to declare EVERYTHING. My mates Sigma Estate got broken into a few years ago and they nicked DVD player. Insurance paid for replacement window, but not DVD player as wasn't declared.

If it's something hat will change performance of the car (speed, handeling, anythin), then you should declare it IMO. "Accessories" such as radios, subs don't always.

But then again, it could still void warrenty.

I declared window tints (front and rear), thinking that it will ad towards security as people can't see in. Insurance class it as a Mod and may even invite people to break in to see what's hidden behind the glass. Fair point. Changed nothing on my payments anyway.

Just ring and ask TBH

Insurance said if i want stuff inside car, like ice etc, to be covered if broken into then i need to declare that and there will be no extra charge to policy or anything, which is alrite.

lol, and i think my insurance aren't that bothered about the mods i do to performance and stuff, coz there isn't really any mods that will do anythin major to performance for our little engines!

True.

But it's always worth while giving them a quick ring to double check

haha, its almost as good as mine! i phoned up my insurance about my new back box, the conversation went something liek this:

Her: hello how can i help you today
me: i would like to say, the back of my exhaust was changed as the old one had rusted through..
Her: ok sir, was it the standard one put back in its place?
me: urm no its a stainless steel back box as they dont rust....
Her: ok sir, i guess that will be a modified exhaust ?
me: urm no, its a bit like the standard one but is a bit like the upgraded model of my car that fit...
Her: ok so a modified back box ?!
Me:yea.. urm.. no, its stainless steel and it lo....... (she butts in)
Her: ok a sir, its a modified back box, stainless steel. thats £10 more.
Me: yea... ok... that will do.

lol felt stupid for trying to get away with a standard back box in SS

lol

when mine was insured, I thought i'd try local broker, parked in car park, and the desk I sat at, she could see straight through door and must have seen me pull in.

When asked if I had mod, I said "yeah, rear window tints". She then said, "what about the fronts, they look a little darker"

cost nothing for any of the windows to be declared :D

Ouch, those vw aero ones are expensive!

can't remember what size our wipers are, but if you find out those sizes then you can get cheap aero ones by searching the size of the wiper blades, instead of searchin 'ibiza wipers' or whatever.

They sell them in my local Tesco for £8 each, i'd say thats fair play!
Was thinking of getting some today actually.

I've got bad new though, I'm moving to Barbados in September and you can't import cars over 4 years old, and if they're younger than that you have to pay a 310% import duty! Savage!

Put my Mini Wheels on too which needed the centre bore Dremelling out, but they look pretty sweet imo. I'll get some pics up.

you can get aero wipers from tesco????? for 8 quid each???? :-o that's good!
I have a massive tesco by me and the car section is tiny, doesn't even sell normal wipers!

310% import duty!!! OUCH!!! could you not just sell your car and get a much better new car cheaper out in barbados?

I know you've prob said before, but have you got the link from ebay for those wipers? Are they good quality for the money??

Also, what does everyone reckon to a remus back box, custom made to fit my 1.4 ibiza for £137.99 which includes all fittings etc for me to fit myself?

Is that price about right??

Who are u insured with nev? It's the tax which is holding me back a bit as i dont wuna find out its more than i want to pay and then go back to a smaller engine! But i think having a Leon FR may help a little bit being a derv? It should make it easier to sell our little engines when the tax comes in for new driver, no?

those are exact ones I got-great wipers, espec for price.

remus back box sounds about right. My custom back box was £160 but that included them fitting it and everything. Would u have any type of guarantee?
