I was getting expenses too, and it covered the costs when fuel was 94p per litre, but now its around the £1.20 its no where near enough, and as a result it's been a big factor in the reason for me moving out of my house and living back in service accomadation again. Simply can't afford to keep up with the bills when each tank of fuel is getting dearer by the week.
At least i'm now in a position to save some cash and start looking at ways to leave this dive of a country behind in a few years time.
In reality I couldn't do more than a day I think due to me needing to be in the lab and on our test machines etc but a day would allow me to do all that dreaded admin etc!
It would also mean I'd be able to lose 240miles from my monthly mileage which would be around £30ish which would be over £300 a year
Home working could be the one solution that puts the brakes on the Govt plans to tax us to death for going anywhere near a road. If we could take a handful of people out of each organisation on a day by day basis (and everyone didn't just work from home on a Friday or Monday for convenience), it could make a major impact on road congestion as well as demand for fuel and an increase in the quality of life for everyone. It's the easiest thing in the world, yet the Govt would rather obsess about solutions which generate more revenue rather than actually fixing the issue.
I totally agree, teleworking should be encouraged by companies not discouraged.
Most companies have a decent VPN these days can support home workers. My old boss (changed his roles) works from home alot (even though he lives near by to work) as he can have conversations with the far east and stuff without having to go in at stupid o clock

For once I'm actually pleased to be driving a diesel again. The rear diff has packed up this week on the S3, so I have an oil burner replacement.
This weeks offering is another 3.0TDi, but getting quite used to them. I filled up at Shell yesterday and 124.9.

Luckily for me, I actually am getting expenses at the moment - and it all but covers the price for one tank of diesel a week, which is what I use (depending on how I drive!). Unfortunately, it ends in 3 weeks or so!

No chance of me working from home but we are trying to get on 3, 12 hour days a week so we can cut down on travelling.

tesco's has reached 119.9, yesterday it was 118.9...(bare in mind last week it was 114.9) now this is incredibly rediculous costing me 25quid for a 20 litre fill up! when i started driving it was about 80p bare in mind im only 19!!! this has to stop, current rate of 2p a week increase by christmas we will have easily hit the 1.50 a litre mark... how can we stop it :|, guna have to cut down journeys now or start charging people.
An e-petion has been created on the 10 Downing Street website, "We the undersigned petition the Prime Minister to Reduce Fuel duty to bring fuel prices back to an acceptable level." It currently has just over 6500 votes, feel free to sign. Not to sure if the goverment will take any action, but its got to be worth a try.

im signed up. What if a few of us on different motorways happened to maybe suffer from a breakdown all at once in each lane of the motorway whilst travelling together because we'd run out of fuel and couldn't afford to put any more in because of the prices. Would that still be illegal?
