I read it in some weekly motoring magazine. Boooooooooooooooooooooo :(

Some weekly motoring magazine that was talking through it's behind. As m0rk said yesterday, they get the exact same information we get, except they elaborate based on what they think will be the final outcome.

Basically they make it up.

That's actually quite good to see the two cars side by side. The lines are very similar, the Bocagnegra has wider arches, with larger wheels and a more raked bonnet and a more Coupe-esque roofline rake to the 5 door.

The body lines are very similar with the 2 slashes, the dynamic line from the front arch and the horizontal line to the rear. The only thing that looks a bit out of place is the rear door handles. I'd preferred to have seen them keep the rear door handles in the C pillar as on the Leon Mk2. I like the interior layout, it uses a subtle cockpit style, where the main focus of the equipment is directed toward the driver.

But if we consider history for a second. The concepts usually closely reflect the final hot version of the model.

The Bocagnegra will very likely see production at some stage as a 3 door FR or Cupra or even as a SportsCoupe model to stand alone amongst the 3 door and 5 door models.

The Bocagnegra was designed as a 3 door sportcoupe, the Ibiza will be both a 3 door and 5 door. Making a 3 door design fit into a 5 door wheelbase requires compromises. The Ibiza must be a compromise for not only cost but for practicality. Not everyone wants an Ibiza with a quick engine in it and bucket seats.

If SEAT only sold cars to the hot hatch market, then they wouldn't be in business for long. Cupra's and FR's are good business for the brand but they are not the be all and end all.

This is the shopping trolly / cooking model call it what you will, its not a Cupra FR or Bocanegra.

I think they've created a very smart supermini that is a good reflection of the concept car. I look forward to driving one in the not too distant future and giving further reflection on it.

I certainly much more excited about the future direction of the brand than i have been in a long time and look forward to the new models that they have in the pipeline too.

Could someone with 1337 skills be kind enough to photo shop the ibiza's front end onto the bocenegra? Probably the closest we'll get to the 3 door version untill it's released to the world.

Why bother photoshopping it differences as said by mainy are only in the fine detail. Everything is just a bit less extreme on the ibiza.

I have mixed emotions about this car, I agree with the granny look to it and the bland back end, the interior looks top notch to me, i'm gunna make my decision when the pics of the 3dr come out and my final decision when the FR & Cupra pics are released when they are.

It is a lovely car overall and don't forget that its more of a fact that we have seen the negra and are comparing it to the ibiza, its a culture shock.

Look at the car properly and imagine it with 3drs and how much sleeker it may look.

Some people buy the ibiza for value & practicallity and some like me buy it for the sexy look and some buy it for the perfomance, this first glimps is the value/practical version the extra sexy/fast version will hopefully look stunning.

Its like the new vauxhall corsa & focus, I hate it, it looks boring and ugly but get the VXR version of the corsa and it is stunny same with the ST & RS focus.

Give it some more time and wait for FR & Cupra pics to arrive, i'm confident it will be hot.

Just looked at the pics on the Autoexpress website. Was hoping for a bit more rear legroom in the back now our son is growing at an alarming rate. The front seat in our MK4 needs to be right up to the dashboard. Will have to try it out when they appear in the showrooms.

If they make the cupra with a powerfull diesel engine, let's say 200bhp and the body kit of the negra, i am a concrete client.
The comparison which bandit max made, convinced me that actually the biza isn't that far away from the negra,on the contrary acording to me they are almost a like.I also like the interrior it's nice, much nicer than the leon :funk:
It will be good if the lights on the bumper of the negra remain on the cupra

There's more rear leg room in the back of that Ibiza, than there is in my Cupra that's for sure.

...that's only because they had a hobbit drive it into the photoshoot and the front seat is touching the pedals

Looking at more and more different pictures im starting to warm to it. Initially I never liked the mk 2 TT or the A5 either but I do like them now. The same went with the 3 series coupe. I think when you like the "current" design alot, you will always be disapointed when the new design comes out, which usually kicks off with the boring models.

I mean compare the pre-facelift mk4 base model to this mk5 ibiza and I would say both look just as boring as each other.

There are some lines I like about it, but I feel that the mk5 has lost its distinctive rear taillights. These new taillaights really are boring.

There are some nice features on the car, and on a irect face on view of the front end you can see that the car does look quite butch, and with flared arches it could quite possibly look down right mean and sexy.

MK5 Ibiza = Mitsubishi Lancer = Subaru Impreza = boring looking mainstream mass seller
MK5 cupra = Evo X = STI Impreza = Hardcore enthusiast fanbase

I like the car but I was hoping there'd be the new 1.4tsi 125bhp engine.
Stuck with the 1.6 8v again.

Yeah no money of mine's going on an 8v. Hopefully decent engine choice will be about soon. This shopping trolley is alot better looking than the mk4 which i personally hate the looks of. This is a step up from the mk3.

:ill:No word on diesels huh?

Only that they will exist

If I had to guess.

1.4 3 cyl tdi 80bhp
1.9 4 cyl tdi 105bhp

FR & Cupra engines are too far off to guage where they're going to be.

But the Release says that the Diesels will have under 120g/km CO emissions
