м0rk i red your post but i think more dense and complexed flters mean less power?Am i wrong?
To be honest 105 bhp diesel is embarassing. In fact I think anything less than 200 bhp is a joke, i mean look at opel and afa romeo ???? not to mention the more serious manifacturers.
105 bhp ,what's that? How can that be - the old diesel to be more powerfull than the new one. They are pissng on the brand, that's what it is

P.S.I know you're guessing but based on what i found on the net and what you estimate i think what you're saying will be the reallity to come

Huh? I might get you wrong here since I haven't read all the posts, but that 105 hp TDI is just the basic diesel. If and when there'll be a TDI FR and/or Cupra, it will surely be closer to that 200 hp. I'm not saying it will try to compete with the Corsa VXR but if not, it will surely be cheaper, too.

G!zmond0, the Mk3 ended up with a 180bhp Cupra R, but there was nothing close in the Mk4 until the Cupra was launched several years later. the Mk5 will be no different, but they'll release the mass-market models first.

Edit - I'm aware I'm talking about petrol models, not diesel, but the principle will be the same.

to be honest that 105hp diesel is still fairly tunable without too much hard work. Im sure the 2.0 tdi will also feature in the lineup at the end of the day as it is the newer engine.

What about this 1.6 common rail that's replacing the old 1.9 pd.
Can't wait to here somthing about that. Why would the hold back in telling us what the diesals are. We know its goin to be the usuall 1.4 70bhp - 1.9 105 as in the Fabia or eles they have something eles in store.
PLEASE BE 1.6CR:coolthumb

The Fabia seems to use a 1.6 16v 115bhp along with its 1.6 16v 105bhp.
That means it's an FSI. Why can't the Ibiza get this at least.
There supposed to be the sporty brand:confused:

Comparing like for like

Is anyone saying that the old shopping trolley model is better looking?

New one wins hands down on that alone. Mk5 sportier models will look ace I think.

Dash looks an improvement too.

wow seeing those pictures to contrast is unbelievable!! who can honestly say the new ibiza is not better looking than the old one!

i'm loving the new style, not what i would buy but it makes me excited to think of the possibilities of what the 3 door/sports versions are going to be like!!!! can't wait to get the details of them

just please please please please Seat don't put leather seats in the FR/Cupra this is even more important to me than what engine goes in it!

well done Seat think this will be a winner

I think the MK5 Cupra will look stunning (note the high bumper line, The Bocanegra front bumper will fit right onto that car!) Saw the white photochop on this thread and it looks quite good too ;)

Hopefully the sidelights will be less of a ball-ache to change. But knowing the way cars are designed these days it'll likely only be made harder to force you to go to the garage.

We won't see 200bhp in a diesel ibiza. There isn't even a Leon, Golf or A3 with that. (Is there even a passat or supurb with more than the 2 litre 170?)

My guesses are we'll get the petrols that we've already been shown plus in petrol the 1.4 tsi covering 125 to 200 in three stage Sport 125 Fr 150 to 170 the the Cupra way up there with 200. Or if the can't make the 200bhp 1.4 tsi run smooth enough the 1.8tfsi or 2tfsi kicking out 200(at which point we all raid the leon forum for tuning tips [B)] ).

Diesels will come in 1.4 70 and 80 bhp. 1.6 covering 90 to 135, 135 being the fr. Then maybe the 2litre 170 for a diesel if there is a diesel cupra. They'd be nuts to drop it as it was a big seller but then again leon doesn't have a cupra diesel.

Cupra diesel will most likely be 170hp and petrol cupra 200hp.

There is a more powerful diesel on the way with over 200hp but I cant see it being put into the mk5 ibiza at all.

That a twin turbo jobby? Could be the first sign of a leon cupra diesel tho :p
