Really? Do people see it ok? HIDs take a while to warm up.

Do they make much difference when you use them?

ive got hids on my full beam and can flash with no problem

how? HID's take time to warm up.

also it damages the arcing surface if you flick them on and off. hence why they are not used as main beams in factory fit cars.
oh BTW if anyone is interested in some UNUSED 8000k bulbs i have a pair sitting upstairs not being used will part with them for £20 posted.

ibiza 3 1.4 etc
but one in particular that i believe still does is the mk1 Skoda Octavia so try a post on briskoda

yes really. yes they do. yes 100% difference.

Can you flash "normal"? As is, pull the stalk towards you quickly and they see it, or do you hold it a little while longer so people can see?

if there's another method of flashing, i think people would be interested, as this is one of the main reasons people dont convert full beam to HID

sorry mate, you lost me... you got instructions to do what exactly ?

if this is right and hids can be installed as main beam and maintain their brighness and also have the reaction time WHEN COLD then i will have to buy a 3rd set kit!

i know when i turn on my 2 sets of hids (yes i have 2 sets, 4 ballasts and 4 bulbs) they are very dim for around 10 3 seconds then start to brighten up.

i know with real xenons they do exactly the same as my HID's.... so eliminating the warmup time of a ballast and of the bulb is a very interesting claim.

yea i would be very interested in those instructions as i do a lot of night time commuting and would make my vision a hell of a lot better if i had HID's as main beam (just would feel sorry for other motorists if i didnt get to them quick enough lol)


and about the wheels, dont forget i will have no internet access from sunday 24th feb till the late evening friday 29th feb due to me being in the horrid location of glasgow, unless i get a foul mcdonalds and use their free wireless tinternet access in the evenings.
will be much easier to contact me by my mobile

but once all that malarky is done, let me know a good date when you will be in and i will organise it to be delivered at that time / date

oh btw did you want some pics of all the wheels ?

I got a question for ya... i have the single reflector headlights on my MK3, so as far as i understand 1 bulb does low and high beam, where as you guys have twin reflector with 2 bulbs?? HID's only do low OR high beams, right? Does that make sense? If so, can I do this conversion?

unfortunatly for you need a HID kit that has a HID low beam and a normal bulb high beam. this is called

H4 HID Dual hi / low beam
click here for dual unfortunatly these cost mega bucks

or if you want to lose your flash then get a standard H4 single bulb.

Not quite right adam, the kits in the link aren't the type where they have a HID section and a seperate halogen main beam element, the ones in the links have one hid section that is solenoid activated to move it between the dipped and high beam positions. The movement between the dipped and main positions just moves the light from the HID unit onto either the reflectors for dipped beam or the reflectors for main beam.

You just need a bi-xenon H4 HID kit, Got one of the kits for a mates bora which is H4, the kit is about £20 dearer but well worth it IMHO. This is the kit we got for his Bora
H4 Bi-Xenon
