lol, no probs fella!

someone mentioned that wiring full beams requires wiring directly to the battery! is that right? I thought you'd wire them the same way as the main beams!

there are 2 ways you can wire up HID's straight to the current connectors or through a relay to the battery, both have the same effect just using relays uses up alot more cable.

Ive seen that fitting HID's to the headlights is easy but how easy is it to add HID's for the full beam and fogs aswell as your dipped beam?

fogs is easy, its the exact same as normal headlights but on your fogs.

for main beam i guess another hole has to go in the housing for the extra cables!

Hi,

As this is my first post, ill just give a quick intro about myself... Ive just ought a mk3 1.9TDI ibiza chill. It seemed to be the obvious step up from my previous polo:D.

I have just put HIDs into the lights and they are great (I have the H4 lights so have main and dip). I do a lot of night driving so was thinking of putting some driving lights (HIDs of cource) in as well. I saw in a previous post that adam1.4biza has done exactley what I want to do, and I was wondering if any one could give me any info about where to get the lights as I cant seem to find any on the internet like them that take either H1 or H7 bulbs.

Any help much appreciated:D

what is it exactly you want? if it's the bulb then try Diane Shop on eBay. If it's the unit or something, then ask adam (i'm sure he'll be along)

Its the actual lights im after, they look like they might be projector headlights which have been cut up and stuckin somehow?

On annother note, have just had a MOT with the lights in (55W as supposed to the 35W ones which are the common ones, so are 2x brighter than normal HIDs) and they passed fine, the only comment was that he wouldnt like to be driving towards me at night:happy:. so thers no problem with them and MOTs!!!

yea, those ones! Id realy like to put some of those in, I already have the fog lamps, but I recon theyd fit in next to them quite easily or id just take out the fog lights. afterall - how often does it realy get foggy in this country?

So my question is (well, two questions) what lights are they and how did you install them?

P.S. Thanks for your help!

first off the units are quit big, im taking around 20cm long and around 7cm round (at the back). this meant that they where a bugger to fit and i had to squeeze them in from behind.

you would not be able to have your fog lights in there aswell as they use the fog light mounting points.

They are not fog lights, one of the reasons for these lights is because i do a lot of night time commuting and these allow a very long distance spread of light withought blinding on comming traffic.

unfortunatly you cannot buy them, i made them myself :D.

if you are good with:
1) metal
2) plastics
3) wiring (electrics)
4) lookign around a scrappy for bits and bobs needed

then you have no problem at all and i could probably write up a guide for you.

for me the whole lot cost
1) 2 x HID dome lights (£10 from scrap yard)
2) 4mm sheet metal (£10)
3) around 4 days (worked from 9am till around 5pm sat and sunday for 2 weeks)
4) lots of 16amp wire (around £8)
5) relay and switch (around £5)
6) a bit of lost skin (£3.20 for a good pack of plasters)
7) plastic tubes (£1.50 from asda)
8) HID bulbs and ballast (£40)

also need a good use of :censored: words....

so all in all cost me around £80 ish for them. im planning on re doing the front protector to give more light out the front but all in good time.

Brilliant, thanks for that.

I can handle the electrics, and hopefully the metal and plastic work should be within my skill.

So the lights are main beam projector types that you have stolen off a scrap car, may I ask what car you got them out of, and do they illuminate the road well?

yes they illuminate the road very well. i can drive along with these lights and my side lights on and its much better than driving around with a normal 55w bulb in your standard dipped beam.

since i have upgraded my dipped to 6000k hids too the light is immense... a few of my mates say ' oh look its the bloody sun again!'

when i get my car back i will take some proper pictures to show you how much they do light up the road.

you need to give me a day or 2 to write a 'how to' thread as it will be a biggen!
