fitted mine tonight. worked fine then drivers side started flickering. then realised my battery had died and then both hids wouldnt work.
so im hoping the flickering is just a result of the dead battery and not a faulty ballast.

I'd have thought, knowing how HID lamps work it is more than likely it was your battery that caused them to flicker and then fail - you'll find out for sure as soon as you're fully charged/running again!
Did you run into any issues with the fitting or was it as easy and straight forward as it sounds?

yes they were, they came last week and got round to fitting them today.
fitting was fairly straight forward, managed to support the ballasts with a bolt in each one along with a strong cable tie for extra support.
just a bit fiddly in places but its all mainly plug and play. only problem i had was that the 2 wires that go into the standard bulb were both black instead of red and brown, so just went by the other side for comparison.
going to get it jump started when it stops raining then take it for a quick drive to get some charge back into the battery, hopefully no more flickering!

i know people say you dont need them with HIDs but its just nice to have matching bulbs.

Why would you want to .....
Standard 50w @ 12v = 4.2amps each (so 10amps for both)
HID 35w @ 12v = 2.92amps each (so 5.84 for the pair)
HID's use less power for the same light output

Not any point... HIDs take afew seconds to get to full brightnes, so unless you drive with 'em on all the time they are not that great.
Also HIDs dont like being turned on/off due to the way they start (very high voltage/current spikes) so they would not last that long

I've had HIDs in my High beam since about Feb last year.
I admit they do take a little time to get warmed up, but OMG once they're up to temp they're fantastic, I doubt I'd go back to be perfectly honest.
As for longevity, I've not had to replace a bulb as yet...(touches wood)
It really depends on the kind of driving you do. If you spend most of your time on middle of no where roads with trees over-hanging then I can only recommend High beam HID's. If you don't then it's probably not really worth the money.
Oh an one last thing, you have to make an ad-hoc bit of wiring to fit H1 HID's (for the High beam).

Because in the HID instructions i got it recomends you change them to 20 amp (standard thats in my LC = 7.5amp)
Been running the same set for 2 1/2 years, perhaps more now ... not changed the fuses
But remember that a fuse is a safety device, designed to stop fires ... if the cable is only rated at 10A and you stick a 20A fuse on it ..... what will happen if there is a fault ????

Fitted mine this afternoon and all I can say is WOW! Night and day difference... I can not get over how much better HID's really are and only wish I'd done this sooner!
I'm currently leaving for work and coming back home in the dark so this is going to be the best sub £50 mod I've ever done - totaly chuffed
Fitting took no more than 35mins too and having read the guide previously it was very straight forward...
Can't beleive how yellow other cars lights look in comparison now

I'm waiting to complete my house purchase before looking a these again. Just a shame the car has 74k
