Why are all you guys talknig about changing your fog lights after the HID conversion?

You're not all chav chumps are you. As you know, driving around with your fogs on unless your vision is SERIOUSLY impared by fog (which happens about...1 day a year) is a bit sad.

i actually live quite hight up and it is often quite foggy at night where i live, i use them quite alot.

although the LCR fogs dont offer much assistance tbh.

That's the point though isn't it.

Fogs aren't headlights. They have a useful light projection distance of less than 5m. They are for use when fog is terrible (generally mentioned at less than 10m visibility).

I don't think, well maybe literally twice in my life, have I encountered fog so bad, that the foglights added any REAL assistance at all (other than to make me look like a try hard :) )

The reason REAR fogs are compulsory is that obviously, your rear lights are no where near as bright as your headlights.

So yeah, basically, my point is. You're a try hard if you put your foggies on. Admittedly it DOES make the car look cooler. But the net result, when it's quite clearly not being used for benefit of this fog, is you look like a tit.*

*I did exactly the same when I was 17 though. I thought I was well cool with my yellow fogs :)

EDIT: Though people who drive around with fogs and NO HEADLIGHTS ON are the pinnacle of retardation!

i see your point. perhaps other peoples reasons in this thread are different to mine.

the only reason i would change my fog light bulbs is so they match my HID's, as the same reason i have ordered white LED sidelights.

BUT only if they actually offer some assistance in fog.

I've got them for a few reasons:
1) To match my HIDs and led sidelights
2) I also, like Number86 has said above, think fogs make the car look quite cool
3) As they are a lot dimmer than standard fog light bulbs, having them on in non-foggy situations doesn't dazzle oncoming traffic
4) Again as they are dimmer, they are more like the driving lamps on the new Mini's (which i also think look cool)

Not everyone thinks they look gd, but those people don't have to buy them, and as these don't dazzle anyone, i don't really think anyone needs to moan about it
