Yup, fitted both parts of the Powerflex bush. Ditch the OEM ;)

Only thing I would say is if you do lots of driving where you are using loads of clutch control and crawling speeds then I'd maybe choose the half powerflex half OEM mod.

But if not do the whole bush. Proper love mine! Feels like a different car!

Mine didnt come with gease because its was second hand from Craig Senoir on here.

But a brand new one will come with a little packet of grease.

Gez110 just did mine and he said when he did his the grease they supply is just a copper grease. He used the grease on ALL the parts that come in direct contact with the metal/rubber places.

When you take the center bolt out of the dog bone and take the OEM rubbers out you need to use a wire brush to scrape all the metal till nice and clean/even.

Grease the shaft, and all the bits youve just cleaned with wire brush, use plenty and when you tighten it all back up with new rubbers in it will squeeze out the surplus grease and just wipe clean with rag.

Hi,anyone on here know if I can just use a normal wrench to fit back the dogbone mount instaed of using a torque wrench as i dont have one.Or when using the normal one whats the best way to do,e.g turn it 5 times etc?

Just got a cable myself from ebay. Worked 1st time - going to wait till next month though and buy the liscense for it too as I want to fiddle with things and the free version don't really allow you to do much.

When I reversed out of your drive the vibrations (more audible than physical) nearly made my ear-drums burst. Setting off in 1st was almost as bad as reversing....

Went the long way home via the Saddleworth Moor > Elland road that mirrors the M62 (wat a nice road) for a blast....(MK2 FR in front of me??? Own up, private 54 plate, Platinum Grey owner..... - looked a very nice car)


When I got down into Elland the vibrations had reduced dramatically. So thought it would be best to do a re-run test ;) to Hollingworth Lake (wat another nice road) and by the time I got there the car felt completely different again.

Idle is fine, doesnt feel much difference from OEM. Setting off in 1st and labouring the engine is noticble (again audible vibrations not physical) against the OEM dog bone but those two slight negatives are vastly outweighed by the positives of this mod.

The car feels really tight, all seems to feel more 'together' - the gears are different (this mod is worth it just for the gears difference) as you said so much more positive and easier.

Oh and it feels like some sort of rally car when I turn engine over :) - seems to sprint into life much quicker (but that maybe just a placebo).

Installed the dogbone mount bushes 2day.
All I can say is what a difference,the power relly gets down and hardly spins.Im not sure if its meant to help with handling but it takes corners much much bettter now.
I got worried when i first took it for a spin after install,when i put it into 2nd it just slipped into 2nd.but since then it hasnt so fingers crossed.I also noticed that when i put it into neutral and idle,the revs flutter,then settle.
Is this normal?
Or should I be worried?

Around 1000km, the bushings have apparently settled - there is little vibration at idle with warm engine, visible as the steering wheel slightly rattles, but hard to feel unless someone pays attention.

Skidding and slipping almost disappeared, even in the wet, on dry tarmac they are inexistent.

However, around 160-180km/h(that's 100-112 mph) the steering becomes very light and somehow "slightly wobbly". It's not a true problem if one pays close attention and grips firmly the wheel, but...

Later Edit:

About 1500km performed with my Powerflex poly/rubber combination. It still vibrates at idle (660-720rpm on my car) while engine is cold, after warming up the vibration decreases to a barely discernible level (but still annoying to me, for I pay attention to it :) ) around 840 rpm vibration disappears.

i've just ordered the powerflex dog bone from forge...fingers crossed will receive it and fit it next week...i'll let you know how i get on!

Having read the thread, and it's benefits, just wondered if someone could actually tell me what it does?

Where is this benefit coming from? What is this part doing?

In theory, it dampens engine vibration and prevents the engine from rotating back to front on it's mounts.

In practice, stock rubber dogbone mount is too soft and leaves the engine to wobble on it's mounts too much, which rattles also the front subframe and results in wheel slippage, wheel hop etc. That's why we change it for a harder one :)

Well, I've had the Powerflex dog-bone mount for a while but I took the opportunity to fit it today while the sun was out.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it yet as I've only done about three miles in slow traffic. There's a bit of vibration, but obviously I was expecting that. It's not horrendous; it just feels like the car's going to stall when moving off from a rest.

I didn't even get a chance to test the anti-wheelspin benefit as the road was surprisingly warm and grippy before the mount was fitted.

I was a little surprised at how soft the standard mount rubber was though!

Can i ressurect this thread please!!

Suffering from the throttle on/off jerking, makes my drivin look crap, noticed that the dog bone is stupid soft!! I do all types of driving, i.e motorway, stuck in traffic, clutch control etc, so therefore is a poly/oem a better option? If so what do you do, use one poly bush and one OEM, which goes where?

Any thoughts on the polyflex bits and pieces fitting the 1.6 engine?

Last minute addition: after my coil pack replacement and some driving, it appears the vibration at idle is now almost imperceptible - guess the poly/rubber combo is a sort of "misfire alarm", it will rattle and judder whenver it happens :D

Your dogbone appears the same as a 1.8T in the picture, try a combination of large poly bush and small rubber bush

Ok, i will order the forge mount, a new Seat OE mount and a set of stretch bolts,

Only problem i have is the lack of a torque wrench, is tight acceptable?!!

Jimski, As it is a very easy job to change the bushes, I would try both Forge bushes first.

Give them a go for a month and see how you feel, mine is a little buzzy at really low revs under load, but not enough to be a problem, and 95% of the time in normal driving conditions it is nice and smooth. I do 300+ miles per week, and would say the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages.

Cheers Phil C, picking the powerflex ones up at dinner, Seat say that changing the stretch bolts is not necessary, so thats all good!

Will update after fitting!

I think you may have problems with excessive vibration if you over-torque the bolts - I've heard of people having issues before
