Consider us already bored! I've just read thru 4 pages of this "It won't turn into a derv Vs. petrol debate". Total rubbish if you ask me.
I'm bringing it back on topic. I owned a diesel FR for 2 years, the sold it for my petrol cupra. To sum it up:
Cupra + points:
- It's
petrol engine is faster
- It's
petrol engine has more useable power
- It's
petrol engine sound's better
- Cupra handles better. The uprated brakes are also an added bonus
- Does not sound like a tractor, bus, lorry
- Does not deploy a mobile smoke screen on acceleration, causing a pile up behind you
Cupra - points:
- I scuffed an alloy
FR TDi + points
- The one I bought was black, not yellow
FR TDi - Points:
- Power delivery is shot
- Diesel cars smell funny
- They also sound funny
- Derv owners go on about Miles Per Gallon like they are from greenpeace
- Smoking in public places is illegal
I would say the results are conclusive. Score one for the 20VT owners. The money saved on list price by buying the pertol over the asmatic can also be better spent on other things.
