If you do alot of miles, get the diesel,
If not, there is more fun to be had, more cheaply from the petrol.

Just my two pence.

If i didnt do like a gazillion million miles I'd have the petrol. But saying that im more than happy with mine, 3 years and still going.

Depends on the roads you drive on. Im getting 48-52 driving out of london now, used to get 32 driving through london.

Sorry but I think its great being able to drive 'briskly' and get 40 mpg ;)

Mind you, I can't make mine pop a flame or sound like rash's jet fighter! :D

Plus there a grand cheaper so unless you do alot of miles its gonna take some time pulling that back with the diesel. but i also got my cupra for £13700 brand new with extras

i personally think if you going to keep it standard go for a petrol, if your going to just re-map it go for the diesel and if your going to mod it untill it just wont go any faster *cough* Rash *cough* then go for petrol. its funny really i personally prefer petrol's i hate having to change gear at 5000rpm even though my car still feels like it wants to go some more it just stops lol but at the same time the diesel in my opinion is more practical and when the torque kicks in things like overtaking become very easy. I race my brother steve in his tuned 1.8t which is running somewhere between 240bhp and 260bhp depending on rollers i.e. quickfit or not haha!! and to be honest from standing he beats me but in driving acceleration my car does pull quite a bit on him.
