nah, they come off easy :D i had no bother once I'd skinned my knuckles

I'd be inclined to drop it off at the down pipe for some reason, not that you can get the down pipe in and out without swearing in situe.

id do it now pete and get the head reskimmed as its probably out by now

thinking on though, its probably going to cost you about £300 to do that, and a 'new' abf is only £500 (breakers)

Thing is the engine has only done 55k and runs sweet as anything. But I have an oil leak I want to fix. I need to clean the back of the engine and check it's definately coming from the head gasket first.

I was hoping this oil leak would be an easy job :(

if the engines been sat for a while, the gasket may well have perished and be giving up as its being reheated

Well it's been sat for about 8 months without much use, and without being driven. But as I said it had an oil leak when I had the car years ago. I'm guessing it's the same problem now and it was never fixed. It doesn't loose any oil if left ticking over, only when it's driven and under load.

I found that if you remove the front arch liners, the sides of the bumpers are prone to come loose.

If you do remove them, you'll have to find a way of securing the sides to the wheel arch end of the wing.

I've taken them out for a trial but the intention is to modify the liners and put them back in eventually. I'll probably try taking a heat gun to them to flatten out the bump in the front of them, the main thing is working out how to keep the clearance on the outside too as the tyres look to be just catching the bolt heads on the outside arch. Rolling the arches will sort that, but then the liners wont have anything to hold them in place, so working on that one ;)

No it's not, but it is going to be used as a sound quality competition car... It's customary on a hot day to run the car for 10-20 mins with aircon on full blast prior to judging so that the judges have at least some time sat in the car before it turns back into an oven. Hence wanting to keep aircon.
