Didn't get as much time on it as I would have liked today.

I hadn't intended to install the charge pipe at a 30 degree slope down, but it works well that way. Furtunately, I had a silicon off the LCR kit that took it to vertical. Sorry anout the quality of the next pic.

...bit, but I'm sure your main purpose in life is not to make sure I'm not confused

While the bumper's off and in front of the car, we couldn't convince you to drive over it and get a new one, could we :D

He just makes it look so simple and the end result is factory tidy, it's fascinating to watch threads like this progress.

edit: i was going to ask why go to the bother of all that neat and tidy coloured pipework and not remove the bodykit ... but i felt that was best left to the 'management' :cartman:

That looks lovely Dave - it also looks like you got the bumper off without removing the arch liners, what's the black magic behind that?

Yes, only a couple of screws holding the bumper to the liner. No point in moving them really.

Sorry Phil . I thought the charge pipe would sit horizontally. There's a long bend that goes down and outward to the passenger side. When I put them in, there was a much bigger vertical drop between the end of the charge pipe and the top of the alloy bend. I therefore decided to slope the charge pipe down to keep the run shorter.

While the bumper's off and in front of the car, we couldn't convince you to drive over it and get a new one, could we :D

I'm after a 1.4 badge for it now. :)
No budget left for bodywork. I hope I can find a way to use samcos for the pump system on my future pool in the South of France because I've already raided that pot!

Ah, prolly look better horizontal, and not going to be too much longer - whole run will still be shorter than LCR's). But would you still get the cover on (DV take off in the way?).

IMO it actually looks fine sloping down. I'll try get a better picture when I'm finished. Probably saved 9" run. You're right though, the cover wouldn't go back on unless I made a longer dump pipe to curve round the back. (I had a blue elbow to go on the charge pipe spigot, it was hiding from me this afternoon. :hide: )

Put a little bit of thought into the coldside run. I raided the LCR pipe kit again for a couple of 45 degree silicons, but I think I managed to keep it short.

It was fun taking it for a drive like this - you do get funny looks!

P1010004.jpg

In all honesty, I had a real fight to get the bumper back on. The pre-facelift doesn't fit over the LCR intercooler. I had to get my jigsaw out to effect a temporary solution. It's currently bulging around the top grilles because the moulding along the bottom (original) grille is tight against the intercooler bottom. I'm going to have to carve some of that away. You'll see from the next photo (sorry about the light) that the bottom part of the intercooler is blocked.

I did manage some logs with the front on, though....

That's one hell of a drop in intake temps, i think mine peak at about 31 or so and thats on a stock fmic.

Now you've found the bumper blocks airflow through the FMIC, are you going to fit a facelift cupra one or cut a HUGE section out of the front of the existing one :)

The latter is very tempting! :D
I've blown hot and cold about fitting a later bumper for a long time.
Short term, I can cut vent slots across the remaining front valance (that's behind the front skirt), then fit a section underneath to divert air from the long wide slot in the front skirt.
