Phil, do you still run an IHI? If so how many miles have you done on the new turbo? The EBC is a good idea.
oh i will trust me i cant sleep
its alot of hassle getting it all sorted tho isnt it its like anouther full time job!
Yes still run the same set up, now covered about 2k on new turbo, but if this one goes then i will be changing it to a different turbo.
IMO the EBC is a good way of prolonging the life of the ihi and with the press of one button you can be running your desired full boost when needed
Phil
I would'nt be too paranoid, look at Songmans LCR, he's been running that set up over a year now and 40000 miles without to much problem. At about 1.6 - 1.7 bar of boost! He did have trouble with the turbo bearing cartridge, the cartridge droped and seized the turbo but that was down to a faulty DV.
This was the only problem though. I think if you do regular oil changes, let the car warm up, cool down you cant go far wrong with the IHI turbo.
Cant believe that! What boost was it running?
You should be fine. 330bhp-350bhp is a safe limit for the IHI. I suppose any more you might run into risks. Its like anything, start pushing the limits and anything could happen. Its down to luck! Im hoping once the rods are changed and head is either replaced or flowed around 370bhp! It will be pushing the turbo though, fingers crossed!
not very good feedback on the IHI (sorry to keep banging on!) but have i spent 5k on a mickey mouse turbo?
