I know buddy, was dissapointed myself but i will reschedule it in the new year.

I've started to give the turbo a lot more stick and 80-120 pull has improved quite a bit i have noticed.

Road was a little damp today but the car was squirming all over the road. The torque steer seemed to be far more brutal. I had to use both lanes of the road when flooring it in 3rd lol :D Brown trowser moments:blink:

Just need to tune the nitrous in along with it and really test the strength of these rods:blink: ;) Nah, will probably take jetting down to 25bhp just to help out at the top end of the range and to alleviate the little lag there is.

i went in scotts car on Thursday night

like i said to him, tbh it felt the same as when i last went in it, BUT it felt stronger at 6k rpm

but its not a fair test as its not mapped properly yet, so id expect a bit more to come!

one thing i did notice was the noise... the "whine" from the turbo is a LOT different!

so i take it by these threads that you guys purchased a hybrid ko4 then. Im running a standard LCR at the min so what mods would i need to do and what sort of figures am i looking at once this turbo is fitted.

Thanks guys

:weedy:

Did Mitchy post up any results?

Nope:p

MAF readings are in region of 220g/s-225g/s.

Requested vs actual boost is very similar to the standard k04 setup. There is a massive spike, mapping it brings it down a notch, but if unleft it could probably spike at 2 bar:blink: Im getting 1.7-1.8bar spikes and thats with being mapped. It only holds it for 500rpm ish and then drops back to normal 1.5bar! (Was polishing+porting a good idea:shrug: )

It's not going to make 320bhp though like was mentioned during this thread even with uprated inlet/exhaust manifolds. It isn't making the boost up top for it to do so. Jacob says 1.4 bar at 6500rpm also:lol: 1.1-1.2bar more like.

Feels punchier to me, if it makes that magic 300 number, well who knows;)

Have you got any logs? If requested boost is same as a stocker, then that's the mapping not the turbo?

You cant set requested boost too high or you'll hit limp mode if actual cant match requested within about 200-300mbar

It flows better than standard k04. (225g/s peak airflow, compared to about 210 in my case)

It simply cannot hold boost like we were 1st told it could. My boost logs are very similar to scotty's. Only holding around 1.1-1.2bar after 5500rpm.

Jacob said it was good for 1.4-1.5bar at red line which is complete rubbish.

More boost does not neccessarly mean more power, the hybrid has a larger compressor but there's no way boost is going to stay at 1.5bar throughout the whole rev range.

Yes holding onto boost is dissapointing. It may not need to boost as hard with the larger wheel to get the same output hough, if you know what i mean. In your thread Ben was seeing similar g/s readings, but had he descaled his maf?

Ill post up a few logs in a minute...

Ive pulled out some of Ben's logging from that thread as i want a standard K04 turbo to compare with.....

Bens logs Normal K04.....

3320 191.7 2550 2370 =1.37bar
3960 191.7 2300 2490 =1.49bar
4680 191.7 2520 2350 =1.35bar
5200 191.7 2450 2180 =1.18bar
5680 189.5 2340 2080 =1.08bar
6040 186.5 2250 1990 =0.99bar
6400 168.4 2210 1990 =0.99bar

Change gear

5080 131.6 2410 1620 = ?
5320 191.7 2420 2190 =1.19bar
5520 191.7 2370 2130 =1.13bar
5760 182.7 2320 2110 =1.11bar
6000 180.5 2270 2050 =1.05bar

And my runs.......

4040 2460 2440 = 1.44bar
4480 2450 2480 = 1.48bar
4880 2380 2360 = 1.36bar
5240 2340 2310 = 1.31bar
5600 2270 2240 = 1.24bar
5920 2150 2220 = 1.22bar
6240 2080 2120 = 1.12bar
6480 1970 2170 = 1.17bar
6720 1900 2060 = 1.06bar

Jacob claiming 2400-2500mbar at red line:lol:

At 5920 and above actual is above requested so ill get that adjusted next time im back at CC to make sure turbo is maxxed out.

MAF (normal, not descreened) and IAT

5000 197.03....10c
5160 221.36....12c
5520 224.08....12c
5840 220.50....13c
6080 216.61....15c
6360 212.08....15c
6560 208.75....17c

Jacob suggested more tension on wastegate actuator, JBS didn't want to touch it!

I would suggest that if the turbo moves 225g/s at it's peak it could move that all the way to the limiter. Your remap is not requesting enough load to max the turbo out. The fact that actual=requested is a bit of a give away. If it'll shift 225g/s, it should fold 1.2-1.25 bar to 7500rpm. Over 6500 on a small port you won't see any more flow at constant boost.

Wilko on Scotty's logs above, the actual is always falling below the requested apart from the 6360 marker where it finds a lot of boost again  so i wouldn't have thought there was any point asking for more from the requested if actual cant meet it otherwise the car will go into limp mode if deviation is too high.

On my logs below, the requested does fall below the actual on a few occasions so yes that needs tweaking as IMO requested should always be above actual to max the turbo out!

5920 2150 2220 = 1.22bar
6240 2080 2120 = 1.12bar
6480 1970 2170 = 1.17bar
6720 1900 2060 = 1.06bar

Would altering the requested make any difference though in this situation as at 6480, the turbo is still going to push 1.17bar even if requested is 2300 1.3 bar?

Have you had a falling out with JBS? (Your location info)

Something to do with the VF34/20 by any chance?
