good point but, will you be to open the doors with just the ignition. Cos mine dont open from the inside without the key. So how with the lack of external lock and central locking, would I be to open the doors from the inside?

with the interior handle its not done electronicly pull it once for the dead lock to be released then pull again to open if keys are in ignition or not it should open from the inside or you could just press the unlock button on the switch inside the car relocating fuse would seriously be a waste of time

what about the deadlocks though, AFAIK with deadlocks you can't open from the inside when deadlocked

I dunno just what I've read

mine has the factory locking bits so it don't concern me anyway

i can :shrg: well if worst did come to worst and the key battery did go flat then you would unlock from the boot takje parcel shelf out put seats down climb throu and just either open the door from there or just start the car from there i spose anyway how oftern has the key battery gone dead on you ?

key battery wouldnt be a problem really, because most of us have a spare with central locking. Would more be a problem with the fuse blowing and not being able to access it

do you carry the spare everywhere yo go then the chances of the central locking fuse goin is unbelivably low unless you mess around moving it and it shorts out on something

ok this thread has got me thinkin

so here goes

I went out to the garage to look into this and
sat inside the car with deadlocks on you can't open the door or remove the door card to acess the central locking motor

but if you put the key in the ignition the deadlocks pop open and you're ok

so the only reason to relocate the fuse is to be able to replace it if it was to blow and lets be honest that's prety unlikely, but possable


so it's a case of " do you feel lucky"

after you have climbed through the tailgate that you have opened with the key (if you catch my drift)

yeah the ignition makes the doors unlock and then I think they will lock again when you hit 10mph

try it and see.........one push of the remote = deadlocks and alarm, double press the remote and the deadlocks and alarm are off BTW

although its a design fault it's one that even gaurding against wont stop a brick going through the glass worth doing though

i know cars (all makes) a lot easier to open and even some with 1 finger with a long fingernail that can be de-armed and unlocked

end of the day dont leave anything worth stealing in the car is the best modification

There wasn't anything in the car worth taking ! Well not anything that I couldn't take out anyway.

There were some fags in the boot (about 120 odd) that's all they took !

There was a Tom Tom Sat Nav charger on the floor which they didn't take !

No i'm not I bought some off a mate just hadn't got round to taking them out the car ! It was one of those 200 cartons.

Then I can just put a blank over the lock and even if someone gets the blank off the lock still won't work I take it ?

Not sure about other models, but the old mk Leon lock was slightly proud of the handle on one edge, so you could fit the blanking over the lock.

the locks pop open cos theres nothing wrong with the fuse, take the fuses out and then see if they pop open with the key in the ignition

Back in time with the Leon there was a high chance of the central locking fuse going. I'm not sure if it was a dodgy batch of fuses from the factory as they never seem to blow again once the original blew!

I would too, IIRC there may be two fuses related to central locking. But my memory is shot so that may be rubbish...
