no I wouldnt be happy, but also I would know that there was nothing anyone could do as it sa common sence thing for a thief to do.

how is it a common sense thing for a theif to do try sitting back and look at everyones point of view whats the point of arming people with this sort of information yes it is a weak point on a Seat but lets not shout about it and get angry at one and other

That means every admin gets the message. We have full time jobs away from SCN. ;)

In my opinion its an issue SEAT should address, just like VW should too. They created the loophole, they should fix it. But they just bury their heads in the sand and deny there is a problem.

Its not that bad if folks follow the rules. But there are a few of us, and we share the tasks. But its always better when reporting a post, to use the report post function, then we all get a message.

And the one who's got a free moment can usually deal with it a lot quicker. Rather than waiting for one single admin to read their emails or PM's

Yes they do need to address the issue, the only problem with that leon guide is that the part numbers are different so I'm not sure what parts to ask the dealer for ?

you could do try this take the handle out by removing the cap on the inside edge of the door opposite the handle hold the handle open and using a 20torx gently unscrew the gold 20torx screw when handle lockcarrier is lose stop unscrewing and leave! take the lock carrier out and there is a long rod on the back of the carrier that sitts in the door catch when fitted if you dont ever want to use this again just simply remove it the key wont work in the door but the barrel will still be there replace carrier back in door hold in place firmly and simply tighten gold 20 torx back up and the handle will flick back into place replace the cap on inside of door and job done

Then I can just put a blank over the lock and even if someone gets the blank off the lock still won't work I take it ?

What do I say to someone when I come to sell it if they ask ?

part numbers are the same, well i ordered the same and they look right (haven't fitted it) but they should be as the handles are identical.

If you put a blank over it, most likely the tw*t who sees it will just assume that there isn't a lock. Not the cleverest of folk these

If they ask where the lock is? I'd explain to them

all o/s handle lock carriers will work anyway rear or front you could use the rear handle lock carrier with no keyhole cutout in the front just keep the standard one in a safe place then when you come to sell it swap it back

Ok thanks for all your help.

Is it possible to get a lock carrier with no keyhole cutout ? It's only a 3 door so no rear doors.

Also on the guide, what is the METALDISC that her refers to ?

The worst thing about all this is.... they only nicked some fags ! :(

you could just buy the lock carrier from a rear door handle on the 5dr it will stil work fine just swap the plastic caps over from 1 with the hole to the o without a hole sop the barrel will still be there but cant be acsessed

dont worry about the "metal disc" as this has nothing to do with what you need to touch when replacing the lock carrier

Ok thanks a lot :)

I ordered some parts from Seat today so hopefully they should be in soon.

I'm anxious to get it done asap cos I have a nice head unit in there and a DAB tuner and Pioneer Ipod unit too - I think they must have got disturbed and decided not to steal these. Obviously with the car in it's current state, they could easily come back and finish the job.

yep, idea being that, you can still get in the car through the boot or something and replace the fuse. If worst came to worst

if you can get in the car to get to the relocated fuse (through the boot) then the door will open from the inside if locked anyway
