Guys,

I now have the new remote for the car...

ive coded it with the following instructions:

Key coding
1 ignition on to red lights on dash
2 turn off immediately and pull key out
3 hold 1 of the buttons down (dont matter which)
4 PRESS the other 3 times ( with a SLIGHT pause) 1 . 2 . 3
5 watch led on key (should flash) and doors usually try lock/unlock
6 turn ignition key back on to red lights and wait 5 sec
7 key out again and test operation

BUT...it all works fine, but it stops the other key actually workig properly????

So i can only use one key or the other? This is fairly annoying coz i want to use both the standard key for the missus and the flip key for myself!!!!

Anyone got any ideas?

Can you not have 2 keys then?

Rich

I went to get a key cut at "timpsons" they say that they could do it but the key would work once an never again as the immobiliser also changes codes?

But aint that just a matter of reprogramming.

Any info on this would be helpful as i wana try.

you can sort out the immoblizer codes easily, at dealer or with vag.com of course...

forget about them...timpson.....better at key cutting than at auto electrics surely ;)

Yeah thats good they can cut the key...

im getting a blank fairly soon and going down with mine to get it done :)

Well this is my next quest to find out...

What do you need to recode a key to a car???

i believe the ross tech site tells you...

i think you need the key fob that came with the car with that little extra bit that came with it with a code on it??

any know how to do it?

no im still a bit confused :(

I now have the follownig...

the Seat Alhambra Central locking section (with buttons etc) and this works with my car no probs....

I am now told the Transponder (a piece of glass) is in the Key section. I have a key section but its a VW branded part with a blank key...

My next port of call is to get the key cut.....which hopefully can be done, but im very confused about the transponder...i dont' want to take one from my other key, as i want 3 keys in total!

So how do i get the transponder coded? is the transponder in the VW part ok to be coded? I was told a transponder can only be used once.....once its coded u can't code it again?

Anyone able to help me progress onwards??

couple of helpers for you

to get both the remotes working do the following

1: key in ignition and turn till instrument lights come on
2: remove key and hold down 1 of the buttons
3: press the other 3 times
4: this should lock/unlock the vehicle whilst also flashing the lights

to get the 2nd remote working do steps 2 & 3 as soon as the 1st remote is programmed (this is what i have done with mine and i now have a 2 remote keys working fine)

the transponder needs to be the same type as used in your vehicle, the type should be stamped on the key blade (for example W or W3)

as far as i know transponders can be used as many times as you like as i've carried out loads of trial and error attempts and never had a problem re-using them

to programme the actual key you need the 4 digit immobiliser code

if you don't have this your local dealer can get it for you (but they will need the 14 digit code from the immobiliser which needs to be read from the vehicle using vag com or similar)

once you have the 4 digit code it's just a matter of coding it all in using vag com or similar

hope that helps a bit

(if anyone else is after remotes i have two more on ebay at the mo ;) )

Has anyone tried the Audi key with it? there still 433mhz just three button.

i have the Audi style 3 button key from an Alhambra, boot release works too :)

They wouldn't cut mine, said if it didn't work, they were liable to replace the whole key, which they weren't prepared to do. even when i told them it hadn't even been coded at the time !!!!

Got the blade cut by a security firm, £5 and no problems :)

When we change car next month, i'll get a new blade cut, reprogramme the fob, and keep the flip key for the new car :D
