What does the transponder do? Say for instance my key frequency is 433.92mhz and i buy and convert a alhambra key which has the same frequency do you still have to reprogram the transponder or immobiliser?

the transponder is the small glass capsule that links to your clocks...

ie if that transponder isn't there it won't start the car...

the transponder can only be used once....so if you have an alhambra key...ul have to get a new transponder and have that programed to the clocks....

an auto lock smith specialist can do this....or the dealer for a price...

Lots of differring opinions on this subject.I been told that even if transponder has been programmed to previous car it can then be re-programmed to another car. This came from a person who sells lots of these keys on ebay,so not sure wether his opinion is bias.

but u havent got it working yet? lol i'll wait to see how u get on, i cant really see how different brands make a difference as long as the frequencies are 100% correct. but most of the keys iv seen have been made by Siemens and my original is so i'll not risk it lol

hope you finally get it working at last fella!

has to be 433.92 mhz and a siemens key only.

none of th hellas work.....

http://www.ross-tech.com/vag-com/cars/key-matching-4digit.html

this procedure doesn't work for mk3 ibizas as you can't get in to the instruments section on vag.com

I can get into the instruments section [block 17] on my mk3,,,

I just picked a sharan key off ebay too,,, 433.92MHz, part no 7M3 959 753

Now funky, won't you tell me how to proceed with the transponder? I got some sort of tag with the original keys but can't see any 4 or 7 digit code,,, just some numbers, could you pleas tell me the format of the code?
