News on a more robust way of mounting the ramair would be greatly appreciated as I just knackered a maf at the point which mounts the ramair bracket to the MAF. Strut top seems a good idea, raid should manufacture a bracket for this as they would sell well as an aftermarket part. This bracket could be added to all future kits as a standard item.

DPJ have you got a pic of this bracket?

(old picture - no MAF support bracket now - and that muck in the corner cleaned up a long time ago!!!))

:D There's several Leons running about with RamAir brackets made by me. Basically, its a doubled up piece of metal strapping bent to shape. It's strong enough to keep the filter in place but the bend gives it a little bit of spring.

Now that I've got a Forge TIP on, I find the TIP makes the inlet end of the filter sit a little higher. I got some good bubble wrap, made a little cushion by binding it with tank tape and stuffed it under the filter. The MAF now seems to have about the same amount of shock absorbance as the airbox gave it.

Hey DPJ,

Nice figures you got from the Ramair. I am thinking of getting one of these. Wanted to know what you and others thought of the quality of Ramair induction kits. I am thinking of going for the Maxflow or Carbon Max for my LCR 225.

Cheers

MaxFlow is a good kit. Prices are far less than they used to be. You need to think about mounting so that the MAF doesn't get jolts.

I thought the Dynatwist and the BMC CDA were better made

The large jubilee clip at the MAF end would always pop off my Ramair..........although I recall at the time many people questionning whether this was more as a result of the installer than the product :hide:
