White smoke on idle

If I start my car from cold and just leave it running after maybe about 4 mins it will start smoking white smoke out the exhaust which smells a lot like petrol. Give it a rev and it will stop. Go up the road stop at the lights and after a little while it will start smoking again. I did have a hose with a hole in it that comes of the n75 valve. I have now changed this. I was getting error codes when pipe had hole in it. One of which was . Bank 1 to lean. So thought this was the cause of the smoke as the car was getting the wrong mixture of petrol/air. I erased the codes and there not coming back on now. But still getting the smoke. Checked the oil and the water and there not mixing so don't think it's a head gasket.

Also as I'm driving along slowly in say second gear if I put my foot down slightly so you can feel the turbo just coming in it feels like the car or turbo holds back or drops its boost and the exhaust note gets slightly deeper. But if you carry on and put your foot down then it boosts up like normal. Driving me mad beginning to think I've bought a bucket.
Only thing that is coming is Catylist fail.
It says 02 sensor has passed. If this helps .

thick white smoke on idle is normaly valve seals. due to the vacume in the inlet system is is at its most when on idle becouse the throtle is closed and the engine is still trying to suck as much air as it can get it starts sucking the oil past the seals, once the throtle is opend the vacume pressure gets less and ther smoke clears.

Was out fixing my leaking door seal earlier so started the car to try and dry the carpet out a bit was idling fine for about the first 4 mins then it starts white smoking from the exhaust again. Even when at running temperature . Take it for a run around the block and the smoking stops even when you park it up and leave it running. But the smoke smells like the car is running really rich.

If it was the valve seals wouldn't it do it all the time cause at the moment it don't do it after I've taken the car around the block a couple of times. After I have taken it for a run round the block I can leave it idling for ages and it don't do it.

It might not be then if it was oil it would do it prety much most of the time on idel. My Cupra r smokes a lot on idel even if the engine is warm it's bad a noth to to see it in the rear view at 30 lol but done a head gasket test that was ok did a coolant pressure test that was also good so I'm thinking its where i do a lot of short journeys too work and back .I've even tried it on the mot emissions test and it went through no problems

Stem seals can stop letting oil through when the engine is hot as things expand so would reseal again. I had this problem with a car years ago :( It's not very common for stem seals to go hard though! You could try putting a seal conditioner through the engine, It's gotta be worth a try?

Lol yeah white. I'm not losing any oil or coolant have no signs of head gasket failure under oil filler cap or in expansion tank. Driving me mad as other than that it is running fine now. And pulls like a train.

It's just condensation, getting colder now, as long as it clears when the engine warms up nothing to worry about.

Wish it was just condensation. It does it if I just go and start the car and leave it idling even when the gauge reaches 90 but as soon as you take it around the block come back and leave the car idling its fine .

Agreed, the exhaust won't heat up until driven really.

My rear widow is actually misting up for the first couple of minutes of driving when I accelerate

It's amazing how many newbie drivers see steam from their exhaust on an autumn/winter morning and go jumping to conclusions of blown turbos and head gaskets. The internet is mostly to blame for this I think. Just look at the first few replies to this thread.
