If you are talking about pressing the Door Locking button on the Remote twice, then it locks the car, but does not enable the interior volumetric alarms. On the second press, when the doors lock again, you should notice that the indicators don't flash, again showing that that alarm has not armed fully.

...I think...

Yes that's how I understand it too, with one exception:

1 press = doors locked with deal locks & alarm active
2 presses = doors locked with deal locks & alarm not active

So the Stealer told me

Dead locks just added security mean you cant pull the interior door realse & open the locks (common trick of thieves)

I thought that if you pressed the button once that the car is locked/alarmed and deadlocked
but that the second press was to disengage the deadlock part of it.

Yeah that's right I think. Easy way to find out - sit in the car, lock it, pull the handle, then push the alarm button again and try the handle again.

For an LCR...

Press lock button once:
Alarm ARMED, all doors LOCKED, deadlocks ACTIVE

Press lock button twice:
Alarm NOT ARMED, All doors LOCKED, deadlocks NOT ACTIVE

Anyone here running selective unlocking (like I am?) If so, lock your car by pressing once. When you next unlock the car, how many lock firings do you hear?? You should hear 2 - All deadlocks unlocking, and then the driver's door unlocking.

Try it next by locking the car with a double press. When you unlock the car next time, you'll notice it's a lot quieter...
You'll find this is how it works ;)

The same thing happens to my car as in cupragrey's. But my red led inside the car never flashes whether i hit the key fob once or twice, took it to the stealers who told me 'oh its not meant to flash'. Felt like sayin 'Well what the :censored: is it there for then!'

Also just found that my car doesn't seem to have an alarm. Lock the car both ways but left a window down for the wind to get in and even stuck my arm through the window but the alarm never went on any of the lock modes. Think i gotta take it back to the dealer!

Anyone any opinions or help please?

Just says in the hand book about what locks and what activates but doesn't mention the red led (tried a few wee tests and dont think my alarm is workin so the stealers are gettin a call!

well i just did a few tests, opened the drivers window to do them
USING THE KEY (in the lock)
lock drivers door once, indicators flash and locks double lock indicators flash, wont open from outside car or inside car. (even pulling inside handle twice)

lock drivers door twice with in one second, doors lock, indicators flash and led flashes, door wont open from outside but will open on second pull from inside.

Using the key (non flip type) (selective locking not active)
lock press once, indicators flash and locks double lock, indicators flash, wont open from outside car or inside car. (even pulling inside handle twice)

lock press twice within one second, doors double lock, indicators flash and led flashes, door wont open from outside or inside even after two pull on the hnadle.

so the only bit of the manual i question is page 2.37
"if you press the "close"button ARROW 2 twice, the dead-lock mecanism and anti-theft alarm are deactivated nd the indicators will not work."

but mine doesn't follow that rule

I've got a 05 Leon FR UK made week 15, so im guessing that the UK spec cars have a cat 2 system where the car cannot be locked without the alarm. and basically someone forgot to edit the manual.

Now, I know in my old 1.6 Leon, pressing the key twice activates the deadlocks. HOwever, in the Cupra, I believe it keeps the doors locked but disables the alarm... I remember pressing the key twice once and the red light on the deivers door stopped flashing...

Thats what the Manual says

1 click alarm fully armed
2 clicks volumetric disabled

When I tested my interior sensors I pressed lock once. Left drivers window down. Couldn't open door from inside. Alarm went off at my frantic wrist action inside the car....

Also if I use the "comfort feature" then get in the car the interior sensors pick me up again.

If 2 clicks is disabling volumetrics then why have the button?

I think 2 is disabling deadlocks.

Suits me.

Never tried it, no need.

I presume it does as next door's Golf was always locked like that until one day he opened it from inside and alarm went off. I had to explain why. Now they lock it with windows open all the time.

Key in the lock?! Never had a car without remote.

At a guess the connector for your LED is dangling down inside the door... pedro forgot to hook it up...

Leave the car locked for a bit (few mins) then wave your arm around in there it should go off but they seem to be variable in the amount of effort you have to put in to set them off...

OK whilst we are on this subject, I have the cheap version of the keys (sexism I call it, bloke would deny otherwise) so I have to use the old fashioned lock method and he has the flicky.

If I go to open the car, within 10 seconds or so the alarm always goes off until I start the engine. 90% of the time I open the car to drive it but then I'm female and I'm always leaving pointless stuff in there... is it supposed to do this? Am I missing something?

Unfortunately, yes, the annoying trait of the alarm going off when you open the door with the key IS normal!! You could always try to cinvince your bloke to buy another flip key tho...!!

The quick answer is not to leave my crap in the car but yeah its irritating. Not sure its £150 annoying yet but I haven't had it long, may get bad enough in the long term.

discovered this after 6 months on my leon. When I had a focus one press would lock the car and second would deadlock. Turns out on VAG cars 1st press does the lot inc deadlocks seconds press removes deadlcosk and disarms alarm

stupid but there you go germans for you
