What pipe is this?

Just bought a fr tdi and thought I would do some checks under neath the car. Everything was fine until I seen the pipe in the pic had oil all over it. It looks like there's some kind of joint where all the oil is, the join ain't tight as I can pull it and make it pull back, maybe this is causing it to leak, not making a proper seal? What is the actual pipe it goes up top around round the back of the engine, to the turbo?

The pipe that goes just above the alternator then toward the back of the engine...... Thanks for any help

i think that should have a jubilee clip on it and it looks like something else is holding it on. get it checked out mate.

That alternator is brand new maybe the pipe isn't seated properly?
Or maybe it as an 'o' ring and that's worn?

The pipe doesnt feel secure, its like it needs a jubilee clip sal.

Hope its just something simple, anyone know what the actual pipe is for?

cant you just follow the pipe down and see where it goes??

I think it goes to the intercooler but need to know the proper name to get a replacement, might have a go at just fixing the pipe tomorrow because know one will ID it lol.

Which ones you going to look at? the ones in the link the other day?

I think it's the egr pipe, you'll only get it from a dealers so go to one and say i want one of these pointing to it under the engine.

Part 4 in this Diagram is 1J0145834R and is listed as a "Pressure Hose"


here is a broken lug on mine

here is the good boost pipe

hopefully you can see the lug has come away making the hose insecure.

Yeah that's spot on mark thanks alot, how much was it when you bought one? Eay to fit? Do you think ill be loosing performance from this broken pipe?

Not sure of price I had mine from local TPS fiting is very easy you need to pull the silver locking ring away from the pipe and then the pipe pulls out easily

not new clips part 5 but should come with the seals part 3 and 8
