am surprised these rails aren’t secured with screws from inside, considering they hold roof racks and weight!!!

the roof rack fixing brackets are welded too the roof, there's access clips on the roof rail covers, nothing is fixed too them covers

Nice, not sure I'd agree that in parts it's worth more than complete but it looks very good.

Anyone seen the Cupra R track car up for £10k on FB with some Supercopa parts fitted?

I agree, I knew how they came off but you would have thought they may have clipped in instead of a interference fit, especially when they thought let's put like 100 screws on the doorcard handle 🤔 😆

Hang on - you're saying there's nothing actually holding them in?

Yep you just gently work from one end and gently pop them out there is like a rubber at the bottom that gives it that tight interface fit, really thought they would have been rail brackets of some sort that they clip into, the crap that sits under them is our equivalent to superglue lol

Just relacquering didn't work so ended up sanding them down and repainting them

Got to get the jack point cover done at the same time... One of these days I'll just take my side skirts off, epoxy the cover in place and then smooth it down with filler.

Much better that you're doing a proper job on them - it takes more time, but it'll last much longer that way.

Unfortunately there's no chance of getting a match on the roof when the paint has been bleached in the sun for 18 years. But looks better in real life and much better now the lacquer peel has gone.

A decent auto parts place should be able to mix you paint that will match far better. A bit late now I know but worth knowing.

It's from Paints4u so decent stuff. The same rattle can was a perfect match for the door handles, so it's just the roof having faded I think.

I had the same problem with my bonnet. The bumper and inside of the door were absolutely fine, but the bonnet just looked totally wrong. I'm giving it another try in a fortnight when I do my bumpers, but it feels a bit much trying to blend most of the bonnet for the sake of a 50p piece bit of damage.

I think you're the only person who will notice it (or else it'll fade too in time!) but it is a pain sometimes.

Is yours LS7Y? Lunar Grey? It's a hard colour to blend.

Finally got round to fitting my refurbed set of Brembos and braided hoses. And life has been so busy I've only just changed from winter wheels to summer wheels. Finally looking good. I plan to do a detailed write up of the whole refurb experience in my other thread - https://www.seatcupra.net/forums/threads/brembo-rebuild.468409/

Yeah, just the way it goes with older cars. Need to get the rear bumper redone as well, but I'll get a guy out for that one. It's Arctic Grey, so not as posh as the later silver 🙂

First time anything about my car's been called posh...

I was amazed at how much darker the new paint was. I mean, it might be a good thing to paint most of the bonnet, what with all the stone chips, but it turns the job into a much bigger one.

Going to have to do some research to make sure I get this one right.
